I'm just baffled why they don't have a roof option like this...this is not a heavy design issue or execution by any means for them IMO.

Covers front/rear seats while leaving back section you can take off. Gives people a sun/moon roof for those that never will take top off and would stop a lot of joint/seem issues by removing T section of pieces normally there.

For the sun roof, I've always wondered why jeep never offered a similar thing on their tops. Some after market people did/do.

I'd get a bronco with that bi-directional top. There is a lot of debate with jeep folks about the sky one touch top vs not. I'm sure that there are some purists who are truly against the sky one touch, but I think most of the people who $h1t on it are just pissed they didn't get it when they could. I got it and I'd never go back. People bitch about extra road noise and whatever. I guess maybe I'm not as sensitive to that sort of thing because I don't notice any major issues with wind/road noise or anything with it - what I notice is that I can take my jeep out for an errand and have a pretty good open air feel within about 10 seconds at the touch of a button.

Yep we've seen that. That's also most likely some roof system that wouldn't give much sound proofing.

What I posted is something that is very simple and long overdue and could have been something on the Filson model and wouldn't require reinventing the wheel like in that patent reveal.

It's literally just a 1 piece that covers the front/back seats and you throw in a sun/moon roof and could even have roof liner around it.

You know what I’d like? A reliable, solid roof, no moon roof, no taking it off, esp if I lived in the rainy Filson PNW. If I want fresh air, I’ll open the windows. Simple. But just like with everyone else’s wishes, I don’t think it likely Ford listens to me. No worries, I’ll deal.

Which I also think is absurd they don't offer.

1 piece covers the whole roof and sides. Again, this is a simple thing for Ford to offer and sell/make as a simple upgrade and cheap option.

They could also offer that with a moon roof.

I really wonder what the % of Bronco owners never have taken tops off or the # is so low vs time on that it should just be a solid roof.

Well, caveat is the population here is different than the regular Bronco buying public. That said, I’d wager a BIG majority of owners never remove the roof. If I had to guess I’d say 80%+, because of two main factors: a) it’s a two-man operation to take it off, unless you buy a lift, and b) a lot of people have nowhere to put it once removed. Add to that c) unpredictable weather, noise, skin cancer, dust and dirt, the wife’s hairdo, etc.

PS: I’d also say 90%+ never go off pavement. Which is cool, whatever, but it’s the *potential* to go off-road and take the roof off that helps sell units. It’s “aspirational,” a branding word that was likely used frequently in the Ford-Filson meetings.

Yep the ones on here are different than the regular Bronco buying public for sure.

nd yes your factors are 100% correct which again I get, but it also makes me wonder why Ford wouldn't want to stop as many recalls/problems etc for the 80% that don't care about removing the top pieces with offering some other roof options that don't have seams or are less pieces.

I do believe that the option to go off-road isn't a factor as much as the factor of it being a 4 wheel drive/elevated for things like snow/bad weather and also the look of it but that's just my opinion.

I've owned five Broncos since 1984. The number of times a roof was off on any of them in total was exactly one. When I painted the '67 I took the top off as it was a color change. We did have a Sunrider on the '22 and moved it to the '25 though.

The 1970's just called and said no thank you.
You already have the equivalent of t-tops.
Moon roofs are notorious for leaking.

If there was a demand for this someone would have made it already.

Had a moon roof in my '99 Explorer Sport EB. Never leaked.

It is curious, but the composite roofs must offer Ford some other benefit, like MPG, maybe. Despite the high % of complaints on this forum, the majority of owners probably have no issues with the roofs and just treat them as if it’s a solid one piece.

Agree as well. Most Bronco buyers are just buying a big, solid feeling, cool-looking station wagon that seems less likely to get stuck in 4” of snow. The higher end of this market will love the Filson trim.
