#metoo, I remember reading many years ago about people complaining that all the cars looked the same. There was a comment something to the effect of how many different shapes of an airplane wing do you see?

Point being for fuel economy there is really only one shape to get through the air to provide the least resistance and that's why all cars really do pretty much look the same. Chalk it up to fuel economy standards!
When I fist started driving, gas was $0.23 a gallon and we averaged under 10 MPG and didn't care. Hell, taxes alone are 8 times that now is some states.

Yeah, and my mother's hope was to marry a man making $10K a year, a lot of money in those days. I think my parents' first house cost $12K IIRC.

Yep, a proper 2-door V8 full sized Blazer would have my Bronco out the door.

Of course, Chebby would probably want $90k for it, so then I'd just end up keeping my Bronco anyway!
I’d personally wait a little for Ford to respond with a V8, but if they double down on their idiocracy I’d definitely ditch it for the GMC.

I wouldn't want a V8 in the current Bronco platform as Ferd would just follow Heeps lead and only put them in the station wagons.

They would have to do an F150 sized platform, in a 2-door, to gain my interest. Since that's not going to happen, I'm just going to keep enjoying my current Bronco.

Don't be putting my side-hustle on blast!
You need a grey Bronco for that line of work. Four out of five police reports can’t be wrong.

When my dad became a journeyman mechanic making about $7-8K, he worried about making payments on a $15K house. Now most folks who make $75-80K are forced to spend $600K for a home, or more. My first house was tiny and $13K.

Glad I bought my current home via a 2%VA loan 25 years ago. The value has quadrupled and interest rates have more than doubled. Hell I make really good money (even though I should have retired 4 years ago, but, eh, having too much fun) I would be hard pressed to justify buying it now.

My mom had one of the little ones from 1984. It had the wimpy 2.8l V6 and a 5 speed manual transmission. It only lasted a few years when she traded it in for a GMC Sierra 1500 regular cab short bed 4x4 pickup.

My dad had a sharp S10 Blazer that I drove some as a teenager. Two-tone blue with IROC wheels. It was, however, a turd with the 2.8. We had a small trailer we towed with it. Sold the trailer to a guy who also drove an S10 Blazer. My dad pointed out the 2.8 badge on his ride and told him it'll be a little sluggish towing. The guy chuckled and started it up. He swapped in a 305!

It's makes no difference unless own 2+ usable homes or can cash out and rent or move out of country hopefully have second 1st world passport or get golden visa to 1st world somewhere.

Its 2008 again with the massive amounts (close to $1.5TN?) of unregulated "private credit" in the markets keeping zombie companies afloat, funding mortgages and all sorts of sub prime and wall street is saying it's not systemic risk LOL while the govt blocks them from buying private homes. Money to be made both ways....

OMG!!!!! You have no idea my simmering hatred of the Bowtie. And it’s too bad really because up to that point I never really had a preference and owned two brand new Chevys before the infernal Lumina APV.
I mean...you bought a Lumina APV.

But seriously, my dad had one of those in the Oldsmobile flavor of suppository on wheels. A horrible thing. Horrible.

Well in my defense, I was 24 with my first daughter on the way and would need something bigger than the Turbo Sprint that the wife and I ran up to then. The APV was the first and only van that had modular seats so it was a no brainer to lean into that for the flexibility. I didn't mind the shape as it was good for mileage but BY THOR'S HAMMER DID THINGS GO WRONG WITH THAT VAN!!!
