The painted hardtop is about 100lbs lighter. That’s why we are seeing all these problems with combining sound deadening and roof racks. If the top was lighter you could add them without exceeding GVWR.

EDIT: Apparently I’m wrong and it’s just a bug in build and price.

Are you sure the modular (painted) top is lighter? I thought I've seen where is was supposed to be heavier as it was made of different material than the molded plastic top.

I was definitely wondering where the videos or instructions on removing it was. I was Soft Top all the way because of ease of use, but hard top aftermarket will definitely cost more and Ford is saying it’s a simple process.

If you’ve ever taken a Jeep hard top off, you know it can be a pain if you don’t want it to take another person helping or some fancy hoist.

Is the MIC top also a 4 piece top with 2 front, one middle, and the rear on the 4 door like the painted?

My theory on the MIC top vs painted black is that Ford didn’t want to look too much like a jeep.

Then I’ve got nothing. I just don’t understand why I can’t get a roof rack and a V6. ☹
Got to go 2door...I think sift top standard on 4 door is causing some issue.
