Pictures are always easier lol
The design of the hook seems very fragile for 3d printing, especially considering the pressure will be at an angle, wouldnt be better if it was wider, with big chamfers to its side? just a thought, not sure what it is intended for

Hey All,

Waiting for My Big Bend to show up which is any day now but I'm wondering if there are any 3D printing Bronco Enthusiasts out there making their own 3D printed accessories? Any good sources for model downloads? See anything really neat you want to mention and share? Lets hear it!
I designed a quick and dirty replacement clip that holds up the prop bar at the rear of the convertible top.

Time will tell, but its a strong filament and most of the hook and surfaces are solid (and the base does flare with a chamfer). I clamped a test print down and tried to snap the ring off with a prybar, and with reasonable forces it wasn't even deforming.

I preferred printing in 45deg angle to make sure the top layer looks best.
You can always drop support, lay it on its back, and play around with better top layer paramters but Im not enough of an expert in this..I preferred hacking my way through and printing on its side.
two pieces, simply apply a few drops of CA on its back to make sure the gasket holds to the print properly.

Now thinking on my next item. Thoughts? :)
Well, since you asked, how about a fan for the wolfbox rear camera so I can see out the back when it's raining? This fan is what I'm looking at, I just haven't had the time to design a box for it, and port to direct over the lens. I have thoughts of what it should look like, just need to find a free weekend to design it in AutoCAD.

This is my camera bracket, was looking to put on the back side of the mount where I should have room. Pay no attention to the blue piece underneath the camera, that was an attempt to stop road spray that failed miserably.

cant tell whether you're serious or not, how will this work with the fan? wouldnt it et wet and destroyed rather quickly? you mean let it rest vertically to the lens so it blows air on it?

Here is my 30 second drawing showing the bracket from the side. Either bring a line up over the top of the bracket and point down to camera, or come around the side. Like I said, I have some ideas of what I think can be done, just haven't sat down long enough on the weekends to actually design it. Think of it similar to putting washer fluid to clean the camera, but since water is the problem here, I was looking to put a fan to it to blow the water off. If that makes any sense.

I believe the fan was IP67 or something rated, though would want to put the fan in a box to protect it as much as possible.

You may want to consider a washer fluid solution rather than a fan. Simply use a T-connector with the rear washer sprayer for the rear windshield and route it out to the camera with a spray nozzle fitted to the end :) Then you don't need to route wiring or hook up switches or anything.

The problem I see with that is, water is the problem. And when driving in the rain, or just on wet roads, the road spray is constant on the lens. So adding a sprayer won't actually help the situation. But yeah I had thought about that.

Adding a sprayer and coating the camera with rainX absolutely will help with that, plus it'll clear salt and debris that's dried onto the lens. It works on tons of subarus, hyundais, mazdas, and even the front camera on the bronco has a sprayer and it works perfectly. There's no reason that wouldn't work, but I can see a lot of reasons that a computer fan wouldn't work. If there's dried-on debris, or if there's fine mist and not full-on droplets, then it's not going to affect the lens at all. Look at ClearVu's lineup, for example. ClearVu, along with all of the major car brands that use this method, prove that this method works.

Here's a whole Reddit thread about it:
I really don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I can guarantee that your bloiwer idea just isn't going to work as well as you hope. Spraying washer fluid onto the lens will result in large droplets that drip right off. You can even add RainX to the lens for extra hydrophobic help.
This guy used compressed air to clear rain, but you can even see that it leaves a very muddy and hazy image compared to the sprayer method:
And even so, that's high pressure compressed air, which is far more effective than a server rack blower fan.

Yeah the only problem I have with that is... I'd be hitting the sprayer every 5 seconds on a 45 minute drive. I've already done Rain-X on the lens. It helps more than if I didn't have it on there. And it's not necessarily big rain drops that are the problem, it's the road spray from the rear tires and the vacuum that the rear of the vehicle creates pulling the water inward towards the lens. I've put more thought into this than I care to admit to. And my last ditch effort seems to rely on a fan.
It's all good though, thank you for your input.

Have you tried mocking up physical barriers around the camera, but not blocking the view, to mitigate the effect? It might not need a gramophone to be effective and that hood could house the sprayer too.

That's an interesting theory. I had thought about something along those lines but never modeled that either. Didn't want to take away from the wide angle lens, but wouldn't hurt to 3D print something and see how well it works.

Unless someone has access to some sort of equipment that could show exactly where the water is being sucked back in to that area.

95% of the time, it's a non-issue. But when the roads are wet, it becomes annoying.

If you really wanted a fan, I would just throw a Sunon high CFM fan back there with a custom printed shroud for positive air pressure going aft to fight off the water drops. It won't work against big, heavy splashes, though.

Buy a few fans, probably 60mm but thick and just switch one out if it stops working. Hopefully, you won't hear them inside the Bronco.

I am mounting a 4" Auxbeam cube for ditch lights and I designed a snap in cover for them. I am printing them out of PETG, and have plain POC printed to test fit. Didn't have the correct colors so waiting for Amazon to deliver me black/white to match my Bronco tomorrow. Since they are a pretty fast print (90mins a pair) I didn't think it was worth it to make them outta ABS since if they get damaged its fast and easy enough to print a new pair. I also have a 7" bar that will mount next to each of the ditch lights and I am going to come up with something for those as well. These printed out of PETG snap in and out of the lamp itself very snug and I think that will add a nice touch to the front view of it. I made the overlap a little smaller in the final version, and will be doing them as a 2 color print, design face down on a smooth no texture plate.
