I have an early 2024 build and I have the felt around the latches. Not the bare spots as shown in the photos. Could it be the difference between a job 1 Ford bronco and a later build - job 2 Ford bronco?

FWIW, my '22 Black Diamond had the cutouts around the latches with no underlying felt (just bare MIC interior). My '23 OBX has the cutouts but an underlying felt which gives it a better overall finish.

2024 Everglades, 8 February blend date, held for quality inspections. Has the thin felt, not bare spots.

Painted tops come from a different supplier so I wouldn't worry too much. Mine is at the dealership for a passenger seat rattle but I can check my top once I get it back

Sounds like it’s the luck of the draw in terms of which Ford headliner installer we get. Your experience with two Broncos is the same as mine.

FWIW, my '22 Black Diamond was noisy and I tried the various crowd-source suggestions with weatherstripping. My '23 OBX is much quieter without having to slap weatherstripping in every gap.

It really does seem to be the "luck of the draw".

I just received a replacement top under warranty, 4 door. My top was replaced because of extreme honeycombing. The first replacement top shipped to my dealer had actually worse honeycombing than mine. The dealer said that almost all MIC hardtops they see coming in new have some flaws. They allowed me choose a top off a Bronco in their inventory. My Bronco is a 2023 and had the felt around the locks. The replacement top I chose does not have the felt around the locks. I wish it did, as it does not look as “finished” without the felt around the locks. These MIC tops are a train wreck and big disappointment. It will be interesting to see what Ford may do in the future.

adding my hat into the ring....I recently had my hardtop replaced and noticed the new headliner leaves gaps. Looks like ass compared to the original liner. As others have said it just looks unfinished. Anyone have any suggestions on how to improve the look? I would like to fill in the missing sections with something that looks like the rest if anyone knows where to source material like this

cheers

You don't need any treatment around handles other than for optics if those panels are removable I would get some additional deadener and stick to panels then reattach OE even if needs spray VOC free glue.

I did deadener and Resonix Black absorber everywhere and it's transformative.

My condolences, but your replacement MIC HT looks like :poop:. It's a damn shame that there is no QC at Webasto. They are just sending whatever junk to Ford to pass along to owners.

Yup - strictly optics. After driving the truck for 42k miles I got used to the liner covering the inside, even around the handles. Now I can't unsee it and it drives me nuts. Its just the little details, but why Ford created this problem I have no idea

The added padding for noise control is a good idea, if noise is the issue. I thought of going with custom EVA foam with velcro on the back to improve the interior looks. I doubt the price will be what I want to pay but will check it out
