Haven't we always been? Most fell in with one tribe or another. North or South. William Wallace or Edward Longshanks. 'Merican or Commie Bastard. Steelers or some other lower tier club.
You aren’t wrong at all. Tribalism by nature, to a degree. But there is a difference between being held at gun point to give your money to someone vs electing to give that money in exchange for a product, then spending even more money to adorn yourself in their apparel

I have no fewer than 4 bits of Bronco garb, probably more. Why? Because I have genuine LOVE for my Bronco. And if someone is stupid enough to ask me about it, I will endlessly blather on the praises (and a few of the short comings) of my Bronco for a lot longer than they ever hoped! They will be smothered in my love for Bronco and rue the day they asked!

Is it wrong to have that kind of emotion for a thing, a possession? Probably, but dang it brings me a feeling of joy and satisfaction no other car in my life ever has, and it even does it in the most mundane moments. Making a left out of Safeway...hit the gas, and the 2.7 growls, the suspension squats and leans a little, and we are up and going in a blink....then maybe heading out to a muddy rock and stump strewn trail were it is even MORE pleasing and impressive. If the doors and top are off, it's 80F and sun shining...I'm not sure there is a better life experience outside of sex. I might be heading to the dentist for a root canal, but I'm damn happy to be doing it in my Bronco. All the little tweaks I have done have made this Bronco mine, and most of them have made it better suited to my personal needs.

LOVE IT! And I'm gonna shout it from the hill tops by wearing a big ol' Bronco emblem emblazoned atop red, white and blue stripes across my chest on a T-shirt made in Honduras and sourced from Amazon for $23.99 + tax and FREE shipping! 'Merica!

Happy for you brother. Your happiness isn’t taking away from my experience, similar to when people choose to run 24” wheels on their bronco. It’s not what I’d do, but it doesn’t affect what I’m doing so it doesn’t matter to me. We have slightly drifted off topic though, which was diff covers then forced branding on diff covers then forced branding on anything. Throw a sticker on there, okay whatever. Rivets? Slightly annoyed. But whatever. Laser cutting your logo out of the material making up the product I bought? Well that’s just not cool.

I consider aftermarket logos to be a jeep thing that I don't understand.

Seems to be a thing disirregardless of the hobby. I was doing some downhill races on my bicycle. Usually just wore gym shorts and a plain t-shirt. People didn’t take me seriously…until I smoked them. One race of the event it got cold as hell so I went to a motorcycle shop to get some pants. The only ones that fit were black Alpinestars with BRIGHT RED logos. Really? Comeon. I bought some black spray paint on the way to the hotel and painted the stupid things. You would not believe how upset people got over what I did to my own property that I paid for with money I earned. Unbelievable.

I think it sort of comes down to the tribalism that you mentioned earlier. Everyone wants an excuse to look down on the other guy. The guy with the rough country lift want to look down on the stocker peasant. The guy with the Bilstein 5100s wants to look down on the guy with the rough country pucks. The guy with the fox/kings/8112s wants to look down on the 5100 guy.

Oddly, I find the guys up at the very top who put the most time and effort into their rigs, care the least about what you used; they care about how it works and if it performs they give the respect the performance deserves.

I understand it, and I understand that many, maybe even the majority are open to it and like participating in it.

What I don't understand is this oversight by the aftermarket to not offer at least deletes. Surely they are aware that some percentage of their customers, be at 30% or 40%, would prefer not to have all this advertisement on their vehicles. Sure, some percentage of that percentage are passive enough that they going to do it anyways.

I think I'll start naming names, starting threads about how I would have bought this product but because of the logo on it I went with another.

We have slightly drifted off topic though, which was diff covers then forced branding on diff covers then forced branding on anything.
Kind of. My point goes back to my ARB statement. I've bought a few aftermarket bumpers, and the ARB front bumper for my old Tacoma was by far the most impressive unit I've dealt with. The ARB rear diff cover I have on my Bronco is super stout, stiffens the housing, has a dip stick, drain and fill ports, and keeps the fluid inside instead of out. It's nice. I have no problem sporting the ARB branding on there. Similar story with our Baja Designs lights. They cost more than I wish they did, but they are dang nice lights and look good and work well and if someone is curious what they are, take a peak at them. If they sucked, I wouldn't have it on my truck.

Do I wish ADD had not water jet cut their logo and "RF" branding into my bumpers? Yeah, but oh well....they are nice bumpers and I got a dang good deal on 'em.

That ARB logo isn’t terrible. It’s pretty subtle and could easily be painted over. Haven’t decided what I’ll do with the Ox logo on our covers yet. Gotta see how big they are in person but they’re likely getting painted.

That's a nice looking trussed rear diff.

As far as the FP cover goes I have been thinking that perhaps the big ford performance blue oval slapped on there provides some extra stiffness to the casting. But I'm not sure if I believe this theory though.

A Bronco man doesn't use ink and girlie little needles. I'm going hot iron branding! I'll just cut the cowboy off there.

On the other hand, the Ford Performance cover says “FORD PERFORMANCE” on it, which is big ghey.

The drain is nice but with the beefy skid we have it won’t be of much use. So we went with Next Venture. (Cut the logo off and carved in our own out of principle)

IMG_1403.jpeg
After looking online for awhile, I am buying the Next Ventures rear diff skid plate as it seems to be the most robust, straigtforward, and flexible option. For the rear diff cover, I am mainly considering the Next Ventures cover (https://nextventuremotorsports.com/...or-skids/products/bronco-rear-diff-cover-m220) as it seems really robust, or the Ford Perfomance cover (https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-4033-BR).

Next Venture makes sense as it pairs perfectly with the skid plate but has no drain plug.

But the Ford Performance, especially if painted by the end user, seems like a very good option, has a drain plug, and plans for the brake line routing.

Since you have installed yours, any additional thoughts?
