There was a car length or so distance between us, but yeah not the 30-feet or what is recommended.I wasn't there, so I cannot say who was at fault here....?
But as for myself, someone that has had a CDL Class A license for 20+ years, we cannot see you, when you're that close to us, doesn't matter if you're moving or sitting still!
If you noticed they were backing up, you should've backed up or pulled to either side to show them you were there!
I noticed the other truck coming in from the right side of your video, clearly needing room to swing that trailer in and the rig in front of you was making said room.
lol.... I know it's not funny, but it's funny....laying on the hornyikes! Amazing damage on the Hyundai. How fast was it backing up?
At least it was a small compact with plastic bumpers. I was backed into by a semi truck last year. No real damage to the Bronco except a tiny gash in my mini bull bar.
There's no telling what was going on. I added something to my post also. There was a car length or so distance between us, but yeah not the 30-feet or what is recommended.
I didn't realize he was drifting backwards until it was too late. He and I were waiting like 5 minutes for him to make a turn onto the highway, so I was also looking to the right to see when he might finally have an opening. There were no reverse lights and he just started creeping back so i didn't notice. Also I could not backup (my first thought) because there was a car right behind me.
The truck driver looked like he was maybe late 40s, but obviously I have no idea how long he had a CDL. He was very apologetic and we were friendly about the situation. He gave me $200 and Iām sure he didnāt want this to become an accident report. There's no telling what was going on. I added something to my post also.
When I got my CDL, it was a PITA to accomplish, but from what I've been hearing from these new, very young co-workers the last few years, they just take everyone to a 4 day class at one of our Community Colleges and all walk away with a Class A license...
Some of these kids don't even know how to check/change their oil in their personal vehicles! At work now, they give these kids CDL permits, but us old farts have to ride with them... One guy, maybe 21, very short tempered, jack-knifed the trailer and I said watch it dude, you're gonna puncture the damn air lines! He told me to STFU, he knew how to drive! Well, guess what happened next? He immediately flipped out, screaming, what do I do, what do I do? I said you drive it to our mechanics to get it fixed! He kept saying I can't drive it without brakes man!
Needless to say, I drove us 30-40 minutes, safely to the shop to get the lines replaced. Using the actually engine to slow us down and only pushing the pedal if needed! Kid never thanked me or anything.... This is the problem with most of America/the world....
So, the person in front of you may have been a new hire and just didn't know how to drive them correctly? Or they could've been a moron! There's no telling what was up with them?
He might've had a bad driving record too and didn't want to lose his CDL, I know that if you get 2 or 3 speeding tickets, you lose it! It's a much worse violation than a non-CDL license. The truck driver looked like he was maybe late 40s, but obviously I have no idea how long he had a CDL. I never realized that semi trailers didn't have reverse lights. I could have been paying more attention, but as I mentioned, we were sitting for at least 5 minutes, and there were cars behind me that he must have been able to see. What is the typical training or practice here? If he tapped his horn as a warning before moving back I would have realized it much sooner. So yeah, there are things we both could have done to avoid it.
Yup,like the man said if you can't see my mirrors I can't see you. Everyone just needs to pay attention and slow down a bit. There's plenty of guys that shouldn't be driving a cdl truck and plenty of people that shouldn't drive anything at all. There's no telling what was going on. I added something to my post also.

Nice Bronco! I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that you previously owned fast cars as opposed to 4x4s.... Just a guess.24 Wildtrack

i didnāt see the impact, but my wife was sitting in her car in the driveway and said it sounded fierce. iām guessing 12-15mph based on this damage.yikes! Amazing damage on the Hyundai. How fast was it backing up?

Damn... That looks EXACTLY like the 89 I bought right off the lot... Even the lowering after I put a BBK suspension on it. Now the interior is a bit changed and I sure as hell did not come close to 700 hp but I did bore and polish the plenum and add a 70mm mass air flow sensor to it. I also kept the stock wheels because it kept me looking just like all the police interceptors on the highway at that time.Does this count? It's a Ford and it's a 2 doorGuy that owns the car, (Frankie), lives about 10 minutes away from me and I've known him for 20ish years. Loudmouth guy with the face pits is a dickhead, YouTube personality.., so ignore him and look how much ridiculous power Frankie's car makes!
Thatās a reasonable guess. It does look like some decent speed given the damage and displacement of their trunk lid. Their back window is clear of any snow, so the driver must not have even tried to look backwards.i didnāt see the impact, but my wife was sitting in her car in the driveway and said it sounded fierce. iām guessing 12-15mph based on this damage.
