2026 2 Door 2.7 not available?

Ahh fellas, with the regulations finally changed, I'm looking forward to a V8 hybrid in the 2 Dr next year.

Who am I kidding. Wouldn't trade my 2.7 2 Dr for nothing..... Unless they make the Warthog 2 Dr Braptor.

Back in the day, you could get the V6 in the Toyota reg cab pickup and it was a great little truck. Then they dropped it and all you could get was the anemic 4 cyl putting out a whopping 150 then 159 hp! At least the Bronco 4 cyl has quite a bit of power. But I'm so glad I found a base Sas 2 door with the 2.7, what a great truck that even gets decent mpg.

Concur...I spec'ed my '98 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 V6 and a manual, along with a payload package. It was a stout little thing. Ex got the Ranger and I got the relatively new 2000 F350 CC 4x4 with PSD and 6spd manual.

Trucks USED to be available in useful form. I hope the manufacturers return to those days even if it means ordering to spec.

If Ford ever releases a Hybrid 2.3 Bronco and drops the 2.7 the pitch forks will sure come out.

Your only choices on all broncos except Raptor would be 2.3 or 2.3 hybrid choices.

This is fake news, unfortunately I could see that happening.

At least you can still get the 2 door in the Badlands & Base trim.

Probably this boils down to money, but how does offering no 2-door V6 earn Ford more money? Typically auto makers are always making upgrades available to get people to pay more, but not in this case with no engine upgrade offering.

Does the V6 cost so much more to manufacture, install and warranty in a 2-door Bronco, that Ford loses money even when up-charging? Or is it another option ploy to make V6 buyers buy a more expensive 4-door? Or is Ford short on V6 availability, and wanting the V6 for other vehicles? Inquiring minds want know.

My supposition is it is a production capacity issue. Ford has expanded the offering to the Ranger while keeping it with other models. The 2-dr Bronco represents less than a 20% take rate among buyers. So dealers can upsell buyers to the more expensive 4-dr trim for those buyers focused on the 2.7L.

I think they want to kill demand enough to justify cutting the 2 door entirely and having numbers to back it up.

I’ve thought this before too. But in reality, they don’t need justification to kill it off completely. If they’re going to kill it, they just will. Everyone already knows the take rate of 2 doors is already low

You're not really wrong. It just seems to be a questionable decision. While Ford will never release the info on cost delta to manufacture with specialized parts on the 2 door, such as the doors itself, it would be interesting to know what those low-take rate options cost Ford to build.

If it does cost more to build them, I'd rather they build a "two door" on a four door chassis, with perhaps FJ style hidden doors for the back. While I prefer my shorter wheel base in most situations, I could probably live with an FJ style solution if that's the only 2door-esque option available. Not seeing obvious rear doors is important to me.

We had about 30K on our '22 2 door 2.7 before it was murdered, we now have a 2.3 '25 2 door. The V6 was head and shoulders more powerful in seat of the pants driving. The 2.3 is ok/ adequte, but the 2.7 was the cat's meow. Very different seat of the pants feel, the 2.7 was effortless, the 2.3 needs much more throttle input and feels a bit labored at times, the 2.7 would just pull, the 2.3 needs to downshift much more. Mileage is about the same.

Sadly, take rate tends to be driven by the 'gotta have it today' buyer, which means dealerships create their own self-fulfilling prophecy, just as with manual transmissions.

With the manual, so many models have been the absolute base, often saddled with the puniest of engines. If you HAVE a choice, the buyer is then stuck ordering and waiting. But since so many won't wait, the manufacturer declares nobody wants the manual.

Same thing with poorly optioned 2dr offerings. The stealership then guides to the profit center of moardoor even though that isn't what the customer WANTED!

If a 2dr manual had not been available to order, Ford would NOT have me as a Bronco customer just as Jaguar lost me when they quit selling a manual-equipped vehicle. If they still sold them, I would likely have gotten a new F-Type to replace the one i lost on Labor Day. It's also why Jeep lost me as a Gladiator purchaser and Nissan lost me on the Frontier.

This. I wouldn't be in a Bronco if it were not for 2 door and manual. 2.7? Honestly, I couldn't care less. If it isn't 8 cylinders, it doesn't matter. And frankly, most of the threads I see about people having engine troubles are all 2.7 takers. I don't feel bad at all about my 2.3L.

I know I am a >1% club member, but this is reason 376 that I will not sell my 22 2DR 2.7 EG with heated cloth seats. Your choice, Ford. Mine, too.

Can totally relate, everything about mine is a unicorn now. SO glad I custom ordered what I wanted all those years ago!
