Hood lift, struts.

Many of us have installed air pumps in the engine compartment for airing up tires after deflating them for off-roading on trails, Rocks or the beach. With the Bronco designed with a prop-rod, it's inconvenient to operate, takes two hands. A hydraulic strut is common on most vehicles. The MRT Strut and the ARB pump were the first two modifications I made in 2021.

I figured on board air had something to do with it. But, even then, almost every day still seems like a lot.

One thing for the OP and others that people may not consider. Make sure that whoever you buy your struts from, that you can easy get replacement struts. I bought an MMD kit for my Mustang back in 2014 from American Muscle (thw same folks at Xtreme Terrain) and of course the struts wore out after a few years. I go to AM to order new struts and lo and behold, you couldn't buy just the struts and they wanted you to buy a whole new set. It took quite a bit of screwing around to find new struts with the right lift capacity and length to replace the originals as the car never came with them originally. (For anyone else in the same boat for a 2012, I ended up on 12 inches in length at 65 lb capacity per strut) just something to consider.

Plus one on the Mabett struts. Agree they do get in the way when working on the engine bay, but on the positive side, there are TWO anchor points on the aluminum hood end of the strut. I have been happy with my selection for 2+years so far.

I was lucky- I bought them open box from extreme terrain for $34

Can't beat Redline.I open + close Bronco + Mustang lots as I keep Battery Maintainers on them!

I had an early Bronco, and MRT was first to market. It's been fine. Now, I understand there are numerous options, including a Ford Performance version.

They are all made in the same chinese factories....

They may all be made in China, but not necessarily the same factory. For example, Harbor Freight jack stands are made in at least two different factories.

Also they all may be made in China, but some brands are designed in China, some in the US. Finally some are custom designs and some are off-the-shelf struts adapted to fit a certain vehicle.

For my part it's due to a running battle with raccoons invading the engine bay. Every evening I put a blinding bright LED light on the engine, and in the morning remove it. So actually the hood is opened twice a day, which at least shows the Redline struts last through a lot of cycles.

I bought one of those electric fence zappers, just need to find time to rig something up around the Bronco or driveway.

A dog will take care of that problem for you! People think coons are so cute! NO they are NOT! They are masked terrorists!

Actually on my Mustangs I used Redline and they were always good quality. Cannot speak to the other brands.
