Hi everyone. I ordered a 2025 base 2 door. I want to add a trailer hitch but would like to know my options. I assume I can install myself.

Do I go oem or are there better or more affordable options? Thanks!

OEM option here.

The advantage of the OEM option is it is plug-n-play (no splicing), comes with everything you need (hitch receiver, wiring, module, etc.) and integrates fully with the vehicle electronics and safety systems. The downside is it requires programming to complete installation. Something you can do yourself, but most people don't have the necessary equipment. So that'll probably be something you'll need to have a dealer do.

If you only need a hitch and don't need the wiring, Ford sells that too. But frankly there's a bunch of aftermarket options for the hitch that probably make more sense (@Lifeliberty already posted one).

SO ya, OEM is going to be expensive, plus the cost of having it reprogrammed, you're looking $600+.

Lots of good cheap aftermarket options, you could be easily under $100... A harness like below is cheap and is plug and play, a little disassembly to get the tail lights out for install but nothing really scary. Popping the corner body panels out is a little tricky, just use plastic tools and watch some YouTube videos.

From there it's pick your hitch, literally 4 bolts. As much as I hate giving Bezos money, there are lots of good options on Amazon. They're all pretty similar and with the low towing capacity of the Bronco you really can't go very wrong.

Will you actually be towing a trailer, or just using for accessories? I bought a $40 hitch off Amazon, relatively easy install without removing plastic bumper, and has worked well with bike carriers. I'd go that route if not needing integrated electric/brake setup.

For off-roading departure angle though, I'd prefer a hitch integrated higher up in a bumper. In fact I'll go that route in the future when I fabricate a metal bumper.

If you need a 7 pin connector, oem is the way to go. Might as well let the dealer install it. You’re gonna have to pay them to program it anyway.

If on the other hand, you only need a 4 flat, there are other less expensive options. I installed a Curt hitch and wiring harness. Took a little over an hour for everything and cost less than $200. Works perfectly with no programming needed.

As noted above, If you only need a 4 pin (which is fine for most towing, and the standard on all Uhaul trailers) I would do it yourself. Here is a video that explains the process

How much money do you have to spend before a rocket will go up without exploding
Bezos rockets don't even really get into space, it's an 11 minute "amusement park ride".

Elon doesn't have the discipline to not blow up rockets, too much ego, not enough brains... He's not near the genius he has everyone fooled to believe. His rapid iterative development philosophy really just means he spends a LOT of tax dollars blowing shit up...

You have to remove the bumper for 2025's.

Rapid iterative development is actually a well accepted design philosophy and has saved Space X enormous sums of money, and no, the taxpayer does not directly pay for their R&D. Of course government contracts do supply Space X with money, and they use that money to also fund R&D, but that is no different than any other company on the planet who does business with the government. Also a fun fact- a NASA SLS launch costs around $2B while a Falcon 9 launch costs approximately $60M, so the taxpayer is saving quite a bit of coin thanks to Space X.
