I've got the Meross smart garage opener. I got the home with homekit and it integrates right with carplay. Anytime I get within 1/4 mile of the house, the button to open the door pops up on carplay's homescreen. Just a tap and voila!
I did the same and it works beautifully. I just downloaded iOS 26 beta and they have added swipe feature for multiple doors, which awesome now. I don't recommend the beta just yet, it seems to be a battery hog for me. Hopefully they have it fixed in Sept./Oct.

Bob's automotive mirrors. Homelink in the rearview mirror and he provides an adapter harness.

I hardwired my opener to one of the auxillary switches using a relay

i was surprised to discover my new Bronco doesn’t have HomeLink.

I park in the driveway, but I go in through the garage, so having a garage door remote the car is ideal.

Because it’s parked in the driveway, I probably don’t want to leave a fob in there since if someone gets into the car, they can get into the house. It’s unlikely, but still…

I looked at replacement visors and mirrors, but they’re pricey.

It looks like I’m down to Meross, Tailwind or Genie Connect. It seems that all of those rely on having your phone with you which is OK I guess.

What are others doing?
$28 rearview mirror off of a junkyard KIA with homelink.

Well, just to fan the flame...

I have the WiFi Genie Aladdin app on my phone enabled with Alexa, so now, all I have to do is say "Alexa, open the Garage door" and provide a unique code. Nice that I can do that further down the block than a button would reach. Added bonus, I can also check, "Alexa, is the Garage door open?" without pulling my phone out and searching for the Genie app.

For anyone who is using Meross:

I’m trying to set it up and Home won’t let me proceed without a Home Hub. Any way around this?

I have a wifi enabled garage door opener so I can just use my phone if needed.

I just put it in 4WL and bash through the door. You only have to do it once and then you never have to open the door again.
That works for backing in to a garage with the soft top half back too. Never have to close either again!

I too have the app. Works until it decides to sign you out for security reasons. Happens 2-4 times a year. But my Homelink mirror always works.

I have the homelink visor (I think) but I don't use it because i park in the driveway and that is always on, so same issue as leaving a remote in the car.

I got the Meross and installed it today.

It appears that there’s no remote access unless you have an Apple Home Hub. (Despite the description saying no hub needed)

I can open and close the door as long as my iPhone is on my WiFi, but no remote access.

If anyone knows differently, please enlighten me.
