+1 on the Toyota rearview mirror hack.

I don't have lighted visor mirrors so after reading this thread I tried the frameless Toyota rearview with homelink. Installed it today and it's seamless. Took literally less than 10 minutes to install and program both garage doors plus it's a little bigger so better rear vision. Got it in one day on Amazon for $150 shipped. Very happy.

Also MyQ is great. I have the app on my phone and can open the garage door that way from anywhere but don't want to have to pull out the phone and open the app every time I come home.

So, does the Toyota mirror just snap on to the existing mount?

Can you post a link please?

There is a single torx (I think it was T10) screw that holds the mirror in place. Then you can slide the old mirror off and the new one slides right on and has the same screw.

Here is the Amazon link:
https://a.co/d/3QvdGTw

I saw them listed for around $120-130 elsewhere but I got free next day shipping with Prime at $150 so thats a no-brainer.

Here's another thread with a video of how to do the mirror swap with this Toyota mirror:
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/toyota-accessory-homelink-mirror-for-bronco.51466/

The only drawback here is that the battery in the mirror is sealed. Meaning once it dies you gotta buy a whole new mirror. I'm guessing (hoping) I'll get at least five years out of the battery and if so that'll be worth it for me. There may be other options that don't have a sealed battery but this made the most sense to me and was a breeze to install.

I have never been able to get mine to work. So I just punch numbers on the keypad. Too many dickbags around here to leave me opener in there.

Try here https://lkqonline.com/ They have a large stock of “used” parts. Got a homelink visor for my 2017 F250 lariat for 70 bucks. It looks brand new.

You may have to check multiple times as their stock changes constantly.

If you have lighted vanity mirrors it’s plug and play. There should be enough power cable to drop the old visor and hook up the new one.

This isn't going to help much but, I use the Meross app and do not have an Apple Home Hub. I just did a test and it will open and close my door from my phone with my wifi turned off.

This is what I bought in '23:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084Z5QZR2?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1

My door is over 22 years old (it was here when we moved in), the kit came with a dongle that I had to connect to the opener.
I have had three of these since 2018. They have worked great. I do not have any home hubs or additional hardware.

I can open/close the garage doors from the Meross app on my phone from anywhere in the world as long as my phone has data, and WIFI at home is working.

I set up google assistant commands to operate the garage doors through this app. When in the Bronco, I just hit the voice button and say things like:
"Open front garage door"
"Close rear garage door"

Google assistant will prompt for a password when opening doors, and will close doors with no password required.

I added a meross remote interface to My Q which allows me to use Siri voice to open/close and check on the status through Siri voice.

I've swapped in auto-dimming GDO mirrors in various cars and was thinking of going this route or swapping visors.

But this was sooooo much easier, looks good, and only required a couple of pieces of velcro ...

Bartact door bags. Slap some adhesive Velcro on the old school remote, tuck into the drivers side door. Done.

I typically would velcro them in a side door pocket on my Mustangs and other cars, but having this big flat surface above the mirror is a much better spot !!

Interesting news on the salvage parts.

Does anyone know the interchangeability among other Ford models?
