What I hate about my Bronco, you? (edit) Or maybe I should have called it "What would you want if you were designing it"

Almost 4 years in & there's not a lot that I dislike. Are there compromises? Of course. Every vehicle has them. The only thing I can think of that is truly bad is the factory sound system. It is genuinely worse than any vehicle I've ever owned.

Reading through this, I find all of the complaints about auto start/start truly confusing and a bit comical. It my 4 years of driving my Bronco every single day, I think I've actually noticed it maybe 10x? Every so often when a new thread pops up about how angry someone is about it, I'll ask around at work & everyone seems to mostly share my opinion.

For me it’s getting 10mpg city just because I added 180lbs of winch, roof rack, and skid plates. 🙄

... time for a trade-up. My 2025 4 door sounds teriffic, esp with the
sound deadening head liner...

The coyote engine isn't exactly a torque monster as it's a short stroke, large bore engine designed to do it's best work in the upper range of the tach as peak torque is over 4000 rpm. It's more suited to the Mustang where it's expected the driver is going to rev the engine to high RPM's to wring out the power than a full size pickup truck hauling loads. Most F150 owners opt for the Ecoboost 3.5 over the 5.0 for towing. It does sound a lot better so there's always that.
Hey I get it, whenever anyone sees Put a V8 in it, they all think the Coyote (meant for a Mustang). Nope, just a normal old naturally aspirated V8, dump the turbo that's all I want. Of course if Ford did that they'd put a $100k price tag on it.

Anyways, this thread is about what someone hates about the Bronco, that's mine. Hate turbo engines. 🤷‍♂️

Just curious: 2nd comment ive seen about this. Why do you need to disable the infotainment?
Not necessarily to disable the infotainment but an easy way to just shut the frigging screen off when I don't want the extraneous screen active. I don't care what it’s doing in the background just as long as I can shut it off with one press of a button and not browse through 5 menus to turn it off.

Yeah... I don't know how it would work. Been talking to a few people about this lately given the recent EPA headlines.

The 4.6L V8 would have been a good fit for the Bronco, but not manufactured anymore. And frankly the 2.3L gets similar horsepower and torque numbers when fueled with premium. So then the question becomes... who is going to buy a naturally aspirated V8 that gets similar horsepower/torque numbers, gets worse fuel economy, and costs more than the 4-banger?? I know a few people that would—maybe folks like yourself—but probably not many.

We could say that they should use the 5.0L V8 instead, but then someone could just make the argument that they should use the 3.0L EcoBoost since it gets roughly the same performance as the 5.0L V8... which is exactly what they've done with the Bronco Raptor.

So yeah, I don't know. They can obviously justify offering the 5.0L V8 on the F-150 because they sell 750,000 of those trucks a year, and the customer base ranges from the average guy, to small businesses, to large corporations, all the way up to governments. But obviously the Bronco doesn't sell those kinds of numbers, and the customer base isn't as wide.

BUT, never say never I suppose. We'll see what happens.

Much to love, but I HATE:
* The stupid startup animations
* The auto start/stop
* The lack of interior lighting
* The lack of power folding mirrors
* The subscription based systems, like satellite radio and navigation
* The double honk
* The crappy interior plastic

‘And especially,
The privacy-raping data collection and selling of personal information.

Yep, I heard all these stories 5 years ago.. And the stories about how you can "tune" a turbo to smoke any V8 out there. And if you love your Ecoboost engines then that's good for you. I don't. I'm not racing down a drag strip, I'm not towing 10,000 lbs. But when I hit the gas, I expect a nice smooth curve to my power, not a dead horse waiting for some turbo to spool. Guess we come from different generations, but I will say I would take my old 351's from an '84 & '94 Bronco (at 210hp), over the shit in these Bronco's today. Hell, even toss in a 4 spd Auto w/Overdrive, I'm cool with that too.
After owning 2.7 with a ford racing cal and the 10 spd, you couldn't pay me to back to my 1989 351w with a c6. That generation v8 was trash. Straight trash. Now a 12v with a nv4500. Different story.

Absolutely love my Bronco, even with the annoyances.

Second biggest gripe is the MGV. Absolutely sucks arse. I’m glad you all love it but I’m not drinking that kool-aid. There’s a reason it was the ghetto interior in the ‘70s & ‘80s and cloth was the upgrade.

I’m happily swapping mine for some proper cloth takeoffs.

Hate the start/stop but love we have a button to push so I’m fine with it as is.

The parking brake is the thing I dislike the most (I really don’t “hate” anything about it other than Ford NOT calling the 4-door something like the Bronco Max, the 2-dr should be The Bronco). I don’t like the location of the parking brake switch nor that it’s electric. It should be next to the shifter. It appears that Ford prioritized the cupholders over the parking brake.

The other thing I would have done differently is that I would put the wiper switch on a lever on the right side of the steering column, I’m not a fan of the twisty/push-button on the turn-signal column thing.

Otherwise, other than poor interior material choices, I REALLY enjoy my Bronco!!!
Yeah the only thing I really hate is the electric parking brake and the switch placement. I just want a handle to pull up or a foot pedal to push. And a manual brake.

When sync + CarPlay glitches (normally on long drives) I hate it at the time. But the only CarPlay vehicle I’ve had that worked perfectly is … none. Still better than any OEM audio/map however.

CarPlay glitching on a long drive is likely due to connectivity and you hitting an internet dead spot. Apple (for good and ill) conceals most of the auth handshakes the system has to do, and it can be easy to forget what you’ve downloaded and what’s streaming. I connect with a high-quality cable, not wirelessly. No glitches.

I’m generally connected by USB cable. Gotta keep the phone charged! What I mean by glitch is CarPlay will completely crash/disconnect. Sometimes it auto re-connects. Sometimes not and I gotta actually stop the car, open the door, and then re-start the car. Generally when this happens it will keep crashing/restarting every few minutes until I stop/start the car.

It’s not a daily thing. Generally only long roadtrips. Never happens offroad because there’s a lot of stop/starting.
