have had my 2025 2.7L Outer Banks SAS since mid March - changed oil @ 1000 miles to MotorCraft 5W-30 semi-synthetic
*will* switch to full synthetic in Oct. for the cold Philly winter start-ups we get here.....

took a surf fishing trip to IBSP in NJ - have a beach buggy permit
fueled up the night before and upon return home the next day

mileage @ start 1533
mileage @ return 1746

used 10.54 gallons gas
got 20.2 mpg
during the whole trip dash was saying 17.1 mpg ??
.....forgot 90% highway driving - maybe 3/4 miles 4X4 on beach

glad I saved the numbers and did the calculation

I’ve had my 25 Outer Banks with the 2.7 for a month and a half with 1425 city driven miles. Overall combined mileage is 22.2 pg. I’m beyond surprised at this.

I guess I need to start manually calculating. Mine always says 18.x or 19.x average but maybe it’s better. 20mpg seems like a significant benchmark for some reason.

You need to manually calculate mileage. The computer isn't accurate until you adjust the AFE bias.

thanks. I had no clue.
It's good to track your gas and miles for several fill-ups. Your adjustment will be more accurate.

What other options are in the engineer test mode.
I would like to adjust the tire pressure alarm to a lower value, and make some other adjustments

Play with it and find out. That's the fun way.

It will let you watch fuel consumption real time.

I'm glad that my original post (used to make that PDF) had a lasting impression on someone here on B6G. I gave up preaching to the masses as I was mostly ignored. Just trying to help others. Seems the helpful posts get little traction. But someone complaining about no one waving at them will balloon into a multi-page thread.

That's a reasonable fear. I think the AFE bias is the only thing you can change. Most of the pages are just status such as injector pulses. Someday I'm going to try driving with Engineer Test Mode activated so I can see how much fuel I'm using in real time.

Your changes don't take effect unless you save them.

I think your original post is how I learned about AFE bias. So Thank You!!

But most people won't search for mileage information. They just want to post without finding out what's been previously posted.

When I opened your PDF, it was apparent that it was made from my original AFE Bias post which was likely last year.

It is one of those easy changes that isn't going to break anything. People spend all sorts of money to make their Bronco unique to them. Yet, all have the same AFE Bias set from the factory. Doesn't make much sense as each Bronco will have different weight, cargo, wheels/tires, etc.

Everyone would benefit from doing the hand calc over multiple fill-ups. Then adjust the AFE Bias.

I used 5,400 miles. I keep track of every fill-up and that was the mileage for 22 visits to the gas station.

I went up to Las Vegas for Off-Roadeo and monitored "Miles to empty" since I was curious how accurate it was.

When I filled up it said I had 16 miles remaining. The Bronco took 20.051 gallons. Pretty close I'd say.

I just did a quick check. Over 3000 miles the average difference between what the computer says and my spreadsheet is 0.168 mpg. Sometimes it's high, sometimes low.

Sounds like a fabulous idea for a new thread!
