The GA guys are going in Sept, wish I could of joined that group but I had to bow out as I am headed to AK in July. At some point I am doing this trip, just need to plan it out better as I will be shipping mine out there.

A stock SAS Bronco can do any run, and there have been plenty. The perfect start up trip for you might be their Baja Siesta run in April. They plan it around the kids being off (there was something like 25 kids on the run last month), easy trails, slower speeds, any vehicle. There were even some Toyotas. It’s more of a fun getaway for parents. We don’t have kids, but we like going to Baja whenever we can.

You really need 2 essential things. A 50w radio (not a hand held one), I recommend PCI Kenwood Race Radio, and a GPS setup. There are 3 I would recommend, Lowrance, Garmin, or GAIA (which might be the easiest because you use your phone.)

Do you need off road lights, no but they come in useful. Chase lights are definitely something to have due to the dust, but once again, not “you have to have them” type of thing. Other stuff kind of common sense stuff, basic tools, air filter, cooler for water, sodas, juices, etc. snacks.

If you break something they have the parts and mechanics to fix it, either on the trail, or at the hotel. Of course you have to pay for the parts (like a tie rod), or getting a tire patched in town. If you have any other questions let me know. I’m not affiliated with them, but I consider them friends, and they run great trips, and get everyone involved. They have a media crew that snaps pics and takes videos. It’s an off road vacation.
Solid intel. Thanks

Was a great time as always Scott! Great hanging with you again and Baja is incredible. To those asking why pay to go with EXO? I'm with you Scott, having the security of the Chase trucks and EVERYTHING taken care of for you is a luxury and all I need to do is drive and have fun. Roll up after hundreds of miles in the dirt to being handed a beer, keys to a room and "Hey dinner is at 7" is Worth every PESO!

I have literally been waiting for the right trip date to pop. I work in Education so I have to pick my shots carefully. I gotta ask is there an ideal setup for your rig suggestions for quality of life mods or additional things to consider etc… I know their site has a fairly extensive yet basic needs list. Lastly what comms and navigation system is most ideal and user friendly for this type of trip? Thanks!

Scott was thorough. I would add that you can do it on stock tires, but if you can update them I would recommend it. I destroyed one tire myself and had leaks in two others my first trip. I also witnessed more OEM tires fail. Since upgrading I have not had that issue.

Upgraded coil springs are nice if your really into it, but again not needed. The staff mostly uses Icon, I use Ride, King and Fox are also popular.

Oh bring zip ties.

Canyon, great feed back. So I’m running a 2.3L BL SAS with stock suspension 74 weld portals and Nitto 38” TGRAPPLERS. Ideally I am looking to swap my suspension for a set of 8112’s prior to doing an EXO trip.

So I'm on a set of HOSS 3.0 take-offs for the time being since I hated the OEM Bilsteins. Running 74Weld Portals, but been looking at the Fox 3.0 through 74Weld. How do you think the 8112's compare vs the Fox 3.0 (besides price)... The 8112's sound pretty nice on paper.

He puts out good content. Just wondering since Quinn worked with Fox specifically for the portals and unsprung weight, if the adjustability of the 8112's made it pretty much a wash of feel.

I’m not sure about that. You could hit up Shock Surplus and they could probably give you some solid information. Honestly, bro the reason I’m strongly leaning towards the Bil 8112s is because they only give me 1” of lift I’m at 81” now and I can’t afford to go any higher. My garage is only 83” max. And yeah the price is right.

Check EXO’s website. They have an easy run for any type of vehicle in June, and a Bronco run in September. They add runs throughout the year, so it’s best to get on their mailing list.

There’s a lot more to it than you think. The way you think, yeah no problem. What do you do when you break? Do you bring enough parts to basically build a Bronco? They have arms, shocks, drive shafts, etc. What do you do if your Bronco isn’t driveable? Leave it there? They have 2 chase trucks with trailers, and yes Broncos have been on them. Some trails are easily found, some not. The hotels are reserved months before, what happens if there aren’t enough rooms for your group? It might look easy, but it isn’t, and I’ve been to Baja at least 50 times. I’m glad all I have to do is drive.
Not to be a jerk, but personally this is about the only way I'd even think about bringing a $100K MSRP vehicle into Mexico. I completely get it.

I definitely don’t think you’re being a jerk. There are always the “Baja Experts” that have never been there but tell you how it should be done, or why they would never go because the Cartels will kidnap you and hold you for ransom (always a good one).

Can it be dangerous? Sure, what can’t be? Camden NJ is the murder capital of the world, yet people live there. You go down in a group of at least 18 Broncos or F150 Raptors, running the EXO placards on both sides of the trucks, the Militia knows that symbol, so do the police, and military. It usually means being waved through at any check point, instead of getting your vehicle ripped apart during a search. They know the EXO trips bring money into the little communities along the routes. It’s as safe as can be, as I mentioned there were around 25 kids, all under 10 on the Siesta trip that had the time of their lives.
