This makes a lot of sense, I think.Yep some places are friendlier than others. We still acknowledge other folks when we meet, whether on a sidewalk or down a country road.
I whished I could predict the movement of deer...It depends on location. Over here, we have "free range state".....meaning animals have "right of way". Twisty road with limited visibility, cliff on one side, and the river on the other (no guard rails). There are cows, sheep, deer, elk, and many other smaller critters on the road (not to mention rocks/boulders after the rain). Locals know the time of the day (or night) when the animals are on the move, and either stay home at that time, or drive very carefully. Tourists however........a lot of them die on 93 every year or kill animals for which they are financially liable (when it comes to cows/sheep/horses). Flashing hi-beams means " slow down MF, you are about to be in trouble".
Hopefully, not on I93I always give a quick flash of lights or a wave but rarely does anyone respond. People don’t seem to be into traditions any more![]()
A lil'off color, huh...The shocker
You probably misunderstood this quote.A lot of people carry where I live and that does not prevent them from being neighborly. I am glad I do not have the same experience
I have not read anything in that direction.No. Why do so many people want the bronco to turn into a jeep? lol. no wave, no ducks. but that's just me.
Guilty as charged, sorry. You probably misunderstood this quote.
I was quoting Billy Bob Thornton from the series Landman (taking place in Midland County, TX). It describes pretty accurately the situation in Lemhi County, ID.
"Neighborly" is great when one has the neighbors. I guess we all do one way or the other, but my first "neighbor" is almost 2 miles away (his house is,....his land obviously borders mine), but behind my property are thousands (maybe more) acres of BLM land (no neighbors). In the front, there is a river, and the almost vertical mountain range (BLM too) across the river. Nobody to be "neighborly" with.
As far as population over here.....well, most "newcomers" (that moved here in the last 20+ years) are either retired L.E., or ret. military. The reason we gravitate toward places like this, is MINIMAL human contact, because we're all utterly disgusted with human behavior in general and have multitude of bad experiences with humans.
Oh,....and we all consider firearms to be "tools of the trade" (the trades that we practiced in the past), and we all have them.
So,...when you take in the account that we (former .gov) employees don't like people much, have tons of guns, suffer from all kinds of PTSD (short fused), etc. Thornton's line in Landman rings very true.
I have two herds of deer (population 37), and one herd of elk (population 24) on my property. They never leave the property because they have abundance of feed here (alfalfa and many other edible herbs) and they have unlimited supply of fresh water. In this area, deer goes to the river at the daybreak, and at dusk to drink and cool off (they rarely go to the river in the Winter). Since the almost vertical mountain range on the West side of the river is hard to traverse, they need to cross the highway from the East in order to get to the water. On my property they don't have to, because I have a stream that flows in the river through the culvert under the highway.I whished I could predict the movement of deer...
in 2005 I bought a large scooter and rode it from Miami to San Francisco and back. There is absolutely no way I would do anything even close to that nowadays. I don't even own a motorcycle anymore, I just buy convertibles now for the open road experience.^^^Ditto^^^
As a motorcycle rider, and Bronco driver, see too many distracted electronic device operators out there for comfort. Next upgrade is the Loud-A$$ horn, like I had in the truck, to wake-up the texters when signal lights go green & they're still screen driving vs. vehicle driving. >.<
I had a woman in a Kia SUV flip me off, I wasn't even driving the Bronco! Maybe it was for something else...I've had a few Jeeps flip me off. Reminds me of when I had my Mitsubishi Evo....every kid in a WRX would flip me off. The Evo was tuned to the hilt and more often than not I'd swing a u-turn and blow their doors off, flipping them off as I passed. Childish - yes. Enjoyed - absolutely!

She was just trying to signal you what she's missing in her life.I had a woman in a Kia SUV flip me off, I wasn't even driving the Bronco! Maybe it was for something else...![]()
Don't engage with the riffraff.the Sport (no need to leave them out of the Bronco love)
