I love all the fulltime overland builds, but I am a part-time camper who needs his trunk space for baseball gear and loves taking the entire roof off to enjoy the Southern California weather. I needed a solution to mount a Rotopax and some traction boards when I go camping. I saw the Seasucker mounts featured in a video and decided to pull the trigger before my recent camping trip. I got the 3 gallon Rotopax gas can mount for my drivers rear window and the traction board mount for the other rear window. After a few hundred miles logged, including some rock crawling and spirited dirt road driving, I was impressed. These mounts held as advertised. 80 MPH on the freeway didn't phase either of the mounts either.

When I got home I popped the gear off, then the suction cups off and stored them in my garage. Needed a little elbow grease to wipe away the suction cup mount spots left behind on the glass but it was no big deal. I highly recommend Seasucker for you part-time guys that dont need a permanent solution.

Pros: Ease of use. Temporary mounts. Solid build and gets the job done.
Cons: Easy to steal. Someone could break the suction seal and walk away with all your gear. Need to check the suction level every once and a while to assure its still connected properly.

Very cool. Any concern on the window glue coming loose?

It held that 3 gal can full on the window with 1 mount off road?

I'm very impressed. Almost as much that the frame or glass didn't break as I am that the suction cup held.

I use them for a makeshift sunshade. 9x7 ft tarp from HF, two SeaSucker mounts, two cheap collapsible poles, some paracord. I strap the tarp between the two mounts under tension, one cup on the front window, one cup on the tailgate window. Easy peasy.

PS I would feel supremely uncomfortable with those mounts + rotopax on the side windows. You have no idea how close to the weight capacity you may be. You can get temporary Rotopax capability with two Rockslide Engineering plates strapped to your spare tire.

I guess I rolled the dice. I didn’t think about glue strength on the window itself. The gas can held a full three gallons and didn’t budge. I gave it a LEGIT beating Offroad.

Can’t tell by the picture but the mount for the rotopax has two suction cups. They held no problem. I really expected a failure.

I would never trust those mounts. Can’t believe a company would make a system like that.

I'm with you. For occasional use at moderate temperatures, they'd probably hold, but something is going to fall off sooner or later. UV and heat degradation in a place like Arizona would probably be pretty rough also on them (so maybe they'd work for a few months or years until they didn't).

Just doesn't seem like a good idea. If others want to roll the dice, more power to you. Just know when your gas can goes through someone's windshield at 70 mph on the freeway you are responsible.

I'd trust the seasuckers any day, plenty of people use them and with bigger items than a rotopax or traction boards.

But there's a less than zero chance I would ever even slightly trust the Broncos windows to not come flying out of the top. We all know how poorly built these roofs are. Putting a load on the window is wild.

I'm with you. I like them but if I never saw them in person I would probably be hesitant to believe in them. I happen to see them at a show and went for it about 2 years ago. I have done hours of LEGIT trails off road. I did the Mojave at high speed with a 4 gallon on there but I have the 3 suction cup version. Never had a problem and dont even think about it anymore now that I am used to it.

One thing I do now though is on my first stop empty them when I have the room in the gas tank. That way I am not running hard with the 18 lbs of gas in them. Not that I am worried but why carry the weight there if I dont have to. Just a thought.
