My Bronco badlands sasquatch 2 door with the MIC hardtop and added sound insulation has not shown any signs of cracking, discoloring, or deterioration. It's a 2022 and I have over 40K+ miles on it. I live in San Diego so the weather averages nice and sunny. I have driven in snow and a blizzard, rain, etc. I have made several trips from SD to Texas, too. The only problem I had a year ago was rear camera problems which the dealership balked at doing anything about it until I contacted Ford about it, then the dealership replaced two modules that cleared up that problem.
To bring things forward, I just added the ARB twin air compressor under the hood. Other mods include Rock Slider electric 12 inch drop down steps, dual hood lift struts (greatly eases hood lift and adds more clearance for working in the engine compartment), mud flaps (prevent rock damage to the bronco as well as other vehicles), parachute hand grab handles and metal grab handles, fog lights in the front steel bumper (white and yellow, Baha brand).
I'm enjoying it every day and it's the sexiest looking vehicle I've ever had...
Then I guess you have a defective top. Around here it seems like cracking tops are normal.

My hardtop outer surface has a few small cracks. As a 2-door owner a concern is the lack of aftermarket options, in case down the road a replacement is needed. I think only an aluminum top maker (can't recall name at the moment) offers a 2-door hardtop at this point?

I'm sure some tops have issues... but is it really that many.
Hard to say. Only Ford knows lol

There are already a bunch of posts on this forum about MIC tops, but I figured pulling as many of them together in one place might help shed more light on the issue. What really gets me, personally, is that it's the damn roof! And not just some small (inexpensive!) part you can swap out and move on from.

Thanks for putting the site together. I will fully admit saying I was in the "my top is fine" camp. Note the past tense. No vehicle is perfect, nor do I expect that they will be. I do, however, think a hard top shouldn't be considered a consumable and should have an expectation of long term durability.

I expect failure rates to increase at time goes on. Me personally, I fully expect my warranty replacement top to also fail. I don't have any confidence in the construction. I'll get the warranty replacement, slap on a TrekTop and be done with it.

Even if the number is small, there have been enough failures that a customer satisfaction/original owner warranty extension, SOMETHING should be done.

I don't have a MIC top but good job getting all this together. Who knows if it'll provoke Ford into actually fixing the issue but keep advertising your work on the Bronco sites to get some good numbers reported and who knows. Heck, promote the site on Jeep and Toyota forums and let your competition shame Ford until they actually provide a permanent fix.

My top was fine, but now I've noticed a lattice of small cracks.

So if you're in the "my top is fine" camp, BOLO as you might have to pull up your stakes and move.

Yeah I think that's going to be pretty common as these vehicles age.

Nice site, thank you for putting this together. Had a 2007 MazdaSpeed6 with 2.3 Turbo DISI motor, they had issues with the motor, lots of failures. They extended my power train warranty to 6 years from 3 to cover anyone affected. I would be happy if Ford did something similar.
Man that's crazy. I had a Mazaspeed3 and modded it to no end and beat the hell out of it with weekend trips to the dragon, cesars head loop, etc and it just kept on going.

I never had an issue with my Speed6. Ran perfect till the day I traded her in. But it was nice of Mazda to extend my power train warranty out an additional few years. Great if Ford did the same for our MIC tops.

Nah, it falls very neatly into a certain category of people who "contribute" to MIC top problem threads.

I only wish I could get credit toward the purchase of a painted top, like I originally reserved.

Wouldn't mind coming up with extra cash to avoid replacing the MIC with another one that in all likelihood will fail too. Just hit one year and 10K miles, replacement MIC has been on order since January. Have no idea of lead times?

I had two Speed6's and two Speed3's, all of them were a blast to drive, the Speed6's were much more refined. Had the timing chain clatter at startup on one of the 6's, but other than that no issues after lots of abuse.

Velocity Red Mica was a phenomenal color, never shows well in pictures.
