@mpeugeot , do you remember if the B&O kick speakers had capacitors on them? I wouldn't think so because they are powered by the DSP/amp (but you never know...). My build is supposed to happen next week, so I'm getting my speaker swaps ready to go.

They do not have capacitors. All the 4” speakers do have thou. B&O system

Thanks. I will put 300 Hz capacitors on the 4" Hertz Dieci 100.3 speakers. I am going with https://www.crutchfield.com/S-jVfDP...Tid9zkUNMnsEYNNzWizSk_QEBfi7jOtBoCPZoQAvD_BwE

for the kick panels. I like that the SV165.1s are more efficient(97db), which I think is necessary because of the acoustically awkward location of the kick panels. I think a lot of people who think that their dash replacements are too "bright" are actually getting overpowered by more efficient 4" speakers than the factory ones that they are replacing.

Down the road, I could see an amped setup with a tuned dsp. This is enough to get me going until I start ripping out the back trim and sound deading/ sub upgrades.

Also, I think aftermarket companies that are doing a brace over the front seats should really think about speaker mounts there.

Hello Everyone. I am a little late to this party but after doing a bunch of reading I decided I would jump into the endless world of upgrading my audio. Starting with a Badsquatch w/ lux

So far what I've done is swap out the rear towers and the kicks. I started with the pods and went with

SSV works 6.5 in pods -amazon link
Rockford Fosgate M0s - amazon link

Specifically because the M0s sound good when underpowered. I can confirm that this changed the sound from the rear COMPLETELY. I'm not sure if the DSP is cutting the rears coming from the head unit, but there is a ton more mid-bass coming from back there and I can actually hear the speakers. Sitting in the backseat is actually enjoyable listening. I recommend.

A few days later I swapped the kicks out with the Polk Audio DB652s - amazon link

This was not as immediately noticeable of a change but definitely fills the front a bit more. Where it actually did seem to come into play was going over 60 with the doors and top off. Not nearly as loud as I want but hey... I could finally listen to my music. Also, changing the speakers has allowed the stereo to comfortably go above 18. We have pushed it to 22 so far, sound is good...

But that pesky Sub Rattle...

I have purchased 2 sets (apparently I added them twice to my cart) of the focal AC100 - amazon link. They come in 3 days. These will replace the left and right dash speakers, and the third one will replace the center in the future, maybe.... haven't decided.

I also ordered a JL Audio 8W1v3-4 - crutchfield link to replace the speaker in the sub unit and a box of killmat. I'm going for that sub rattle and I will kill it.

Now to the planning stage. The sub will be moderately underpowered, but the JL is actually suited for 150watts. Other people here have calculated that the B&O is giving ~70 watts per channel, two wired for the sub. I have a feeling that just replacing the Sub is going to make a big difference. we shall see in about a weeks time.

I think next paycheck I'll go with the plugnplay Kit #19. - plugnplay link This gives me a few options to play with. Seeing as how the center channel and the rear pods are powered off the head unit I could..

1. I could wire the rear pods to actually get the power they need from the musway 4 channel and...

a. then give the sub the remaining two channels for a bit over 200 watts. Might be overkill for the sub, might be amazing.

b. Send the remaining 2 channels to the kicks and actually get the polks singing. Order the musway one.600 - musway link to supplement the 1.400 from the kit and give the bass more power than it could ever handle. (maybe I see a stealth box in my future)

c. send one of the channels to the center and power a 3rd focal AC100. But I feel like this would maybe ruin the stereo sound at the front as I think the middle speaker would put out more than the left and rights. I'd still add a one.600 and power the sub since the 4th channel alone won't be enough.

I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on the process. I know I could just swap the entire thing out and get a 8 channel amp. But then I feel like... what was the point of the b&o to begin with. With the speakers swapped so far it's actually approaching a pretty good sounding system. I'm excited to see what the focals and 8in JL do

I know in my case, and a few others - it’s the Metra adapter that is commonly used has the incorrect polarity colors for the Bronco harness. When wired backwards they are very harsh and bright — get the polarity right and it settles right in.

Not every case is this I’m sure, but I bet more than a handful are.

Installing speakers this weekend with the Metra adapters. How do you know if the wires are right?

Has anyone wired in a Sub speaker in the back right corner panel like the newer Broncos come with? I have a 22 OBX and don't have a sub and not a fan of one sitting in the trunk, curious if anyone has attempted to install one like the newer broncos B&O come with?

Where are the 12 speakers located in the 2025 B&O system?
I am betting the same locations at the "10 speakers" in the 2021-2024 B&O systems.

They more than likely added two way speakers in the back pods or the kick panels. Don't be fooled by the idiots at Ford marketing's common core math.

@mpeugeot nailed it.

2021-2024
  • (1) Center dash midwoofer
  • (2) Dash coaxials - counts as 2 speakers each
  • (2) Kick panel woofers
  • (2) Rear pod midwoofers
  • (1) Subwoofer

Why would they put tweeters in the kicks, for tying shoes?
