Ive spent a lot of time searching and researching this but never found a great example. I have purchased Hertz 4" speakers for the dash, hertz mille pro 6.5's and mabett pods for the rear and the kicker key 200.4. My question is should i leave the factory kick panel speakers stock or upgrade them? or take the hertz 6.5's out of the pods and switch them with the kick panels?

I will move the 6.5 Hertz to the kick panels and use a cheaper version for the rear. The reason being is the rear pods/speakers are for fill only, they really don't do anything that will give you a better soundstage.

Could really go either way with this.

There’s no way I would spend the money on bigger rear pods and then drop an OEM paper speaker in there.

That said - yeah, unless you are sitting in the back seat, the rear channels are mostly filler for dimension.

Why not just get another set of 6.5s for up front? The drivers side is kind of a pain to get at.

The front kick panel speakers should be a mid bass , not a 2 way. I made the mistake of replacing the factory woofers with a 2 way 6.5” and it actually degraded the sound quality. I put the stock back

Do you have any recommendations?

If i added these to the speakers i already got is the kickey key enough power?
I believe the key amp is 2ohm stable and if you wire the dash and kicks together in parallel the power is plenty

Do you have a sub? I’ll probably add a sub in the future so i wonder if a 2 way makes more sense?

I changed out the kicks and put the OEM right back in. I even sealed and put sound deadening in the space but still no bass. To be fair I did use a two way. Maybe a mid bass wound be better. I ended up adding a sub and then put the new speakers in and it sounds great.

I used 2ways in the kicks (infinity reference), but I have a sub in the back for bass.

Each person will have a bit different idea of what sounds good - I was shooting for clarity and crispness with enough power to cut through road noise from my main speakers.

If you are using the factory wiring, the kicks and dash are wired in parallel.

I do have a sub, but still didn’t like what the 2-ways did to the overall sound. The sub is only for the bottom of the range but those midwoofers cover quit a bit more above the sub range
