It is the wrong time to buy a new car unless you can afford it. If you can’t pay cash, keep what you have or buy something cheaper and more practical.
Dave Ramsey, is that you? ;)

Just my opinion but see what news you all have. With Stellantis rumoring massive MSRP cuts and 10's of thousands of new 2024 broncos still sitting on lots, I'm feeling I should just wait a few months to buy. They are NOT moving high cost vehicles right now, and it's only getting worse. I think we're seeing the collapse of the car market that was sure to happen after then insane high in the market a couple years ago. I'm already seeing high level badlands for 10 to 15k off (Have a quote IN HAND for a lux badlands hardtop sasquatch for $54,995 Right now). If Stellantis DOES slash MSRP's that much, everyone else is going to have to follow (Only diehard bronco lovers are going to buy a bronco when a similar jeep is $20,000 less) Thoughts?
I've seen those crazy YouTube vids from the Stellantis guy and others saying you can get Rams for 40% - 50% off. Clickbait! You might get a $10K discount but you're not going to buy a 4WD Ram or any Ram out the door for $20K. You're also not going to get a similar Jeep for $20K less than a Bronco. Comparing a badlands sasquatch would be a fully equipped Rubicon. That said you can get great deals on either a Bronco or Jeep right now. If you're ready to buy its a good time.

Three weeks ago I picked up a 2024 Wilktrak, with a painted top, not the MIC for $58,000 in Oregon. I felt like that was a screaming deal. You might as well step up to a Wildtrak for only a few thousand dollars more.

The longer that you wait, the less inventory you are going to be able to pick from.

I just got on the Internet and showed them all the places within 500 miles that were selling cheaper than them. Print off the window stickers so they can see it for themselves. When they mentioned that I would have to go pick it up and drive it home like it was a bad thing, I just let them know that I was buying the vehicle to drive and would get to go on an adventure if I bought somewhere else.

Also, wait until almost the end of the month, if the dealership is short on total sales, they will be more likely to give you a better price so they can get their total volume numbers up.

Lastly, if you want to spend the time… Get quotes on exactly the model that you want from all the local dealerships via Internet pricing. Even if it is the same dealer, but a different location. Each location battles to have sales. Then you can just pit them against each other for the best price. I did that with my waves Touring Honda Accord. It was being shipped over from Japan (Touring model is still made there) and they hadn’t specified which dealership was going to get it. I picked that one up for a little over $33,000 with lifetime oil changes!

All the possible gains you could make by waiting could just as easily be wiped out by tariffs or inflation.

Im not saying thats certain - just possible. With ‘25s coming very soon prices may move a bit, but i doubt they drop much lower as Ford is starting to cut production.

If you got a quote now and are happy with it and its in your means - then even if the price does drop later just realize you paid so you could have more time to enjoy it, so it wasn't wasted.
This.👆🏻
I think the main factor to track closely is interest rates. If inflation returns, then the Federal Reserve could raise the prime lending rate as a way to curb more inflation.

Second, banks are not going to make the same mistake they made during the pandemic; namely, handing out loans to just about anybody. Banks took a bath on loan defaults back then and won’t do that again. Too fresh in their memory.

I just bought recently and I'll be honest that I thought about the Jeep discounts I was seeing. But I would say I'm a bit worried about Stellantis' future. What happens if they go Bankrupt? It's not going to be the end of the world, but something to consider. I thought about that.

But that being said - I like to think I made a rational logical choice but I'm old enough to know I really made an emotional choice and then came up with a myriad of reasons it was rational and logical :)

Sure there is, for example, we guessed the market was going to go nuts, and bought a new 2020 expedition MAX with max tow for 51k out the door including taxes. They shortly went up 20k after that. So that was definitely the right time to buy there, the wrong time to buy was 2021 to about 2023, as prices were way over market due to high demand and low supply. Well that's flip flopped, theres a huge supply and low demand right now. My local dealership has 53 new 2024 broncos on their lot....
I bought my 22 Bronco in March 23 for MSRP ($36K Bronco Base). One year later Carvana offered me $46K. Its not worth that much today but you would be hard pressed to buy any new Bronco for $36K or any similar vehicle. I have no regrets, it was the right time for me. Dave Ramsey is not always right. He recommends never buying a new vehicle.

I think Stellantis will be fine now that they kicked Tavares out. It's going to be a rough couple of years for them to redirect some of their corporate policies plus make changes to their upcoming product line to more closely align with their customers' wants (and budgets), but I think they'll get it turned around.

Honestly, the biggest reason not to buy a JL Wrangler (versus a Ford Bronco) is that for day to day drive-ability, I cannot really think of any advantages going to the Jeep. I spent a lot of time considering a 4xe Rubicon along with a 392 and am happy I ultimately went Braptor. I had a Sahara 4xe as a rental car for about a week when my Kia was in the shop (again) and that further cemented that I made the right choice.

Dave Ramsey is a boomer carmudgeon who doesn't have any understanding of the modern economy, still preaching what worked well in the 1970s and 1980s...

If I had lived my 44 years according to Dave, my life would have been a shit ton less enjoyable than it has been up to this point.

Ford isn't building nearly as many 2025 models so once all the discounted 2024 inventory dries up, the large discounts may dry up as well. Throw in the fact that there's some funny business going on with 2025 manual transmission orders all being pushed back to late April builds, the Bilstein shock issue, the tariff stuff, and it's looking like 2025 could be a low volume year for the Bronco so today's pricing on 2024's could be as good as it gets for a while.

If you buy now or later , great discount and or very good interest rate, 24 or 25 , A must is start with the painted hard top and go from there , best advice

I picked up a 2024 Badlands Sasquatch with high/lix package, 2.7, painted top, etc.

MSRP with destination charge broke $70k. Got it for mid $50s.

Let’s level set here: for the price of entry for a Toyota Landcruiser, I walked away with a far more capable vehicle.

If it’s the vehicle you want, it’s a solid price.
Yeah -- and Toyota isn't the realbil

Well, he does have a point about spending more than you can afford and being forever in debt.

It's called the American way. Our whole 30 year mortgage system which is institutionally how home ownership has been driven is inherently based around you being in debt the rest of your life :).

Time's a wasting for enjoyment. As stated, if you're happy with the quote, go for it. Real estate, cars, up or down, sometimes you "win" sometimes you "lose".

The good Ford dealers, alike Kendall Ford, never gouge.
Reputations for honesty and integrity are earned........and Kendall has.
Agreed. Spreading the good news on some dealers - Magic City Ford in Roanoke, VA. Faithful customers for > 25 years.

If you have some down money and good credit, BUY IT. I waited almost a year for the prices on Raptors to get back to something I could stomach. I threw a number out to a bunch of dealers and said first one to call me back gets the business. My age - 62, had something to do with it....I'm starting to spend some money after working my ass off since age 14. Age aside, and I hate the old adage that "you only live once" - like, no shit, Sherlock, but my dad went to his company Christmas party at age 24 and never came home - hit by a drunk driver while changing a flat on his '66 Ford Galaxy. If you buy it and enjoy it while you're able, it's better than sitting around guessing "should I or shouldn't I?" I'm going to run the piss out the Raptor, enjoying every throttle stomp, then, trade it for something else when the extended warranty expires. Treat yourself, man
