Dave Ramsey, is that you?It is the wrong time to buy a new car unless you can afford it. If you can’t pay cash, keep what you have or buy something cheaper and more practical.

I've seen those crazy YouTube vids from the Stellantis guy and others saying you can get Rams for 40% - 50% off. Clickbait! You might get a $10K discount but you're not going to buy a 4WD Ram or any Ram out the door for $20K. You're also not going to get a similar Jeep for $20K less than a Bronco. Comparing a badlands sasquatch would be a fully equipped Rubicon. That said you can get great deals on either a Bronco or Jeep right now. If you're ready to buy its a good time.Just my opinion but see what news you all have. With Stellantis rumoring massive MSRP cuts and 10's of thousands of new 2024 broncos still sitting on lots, I'm feeling I should just wait a few months to buy. They are NOT moving high cost vehicles right now, and it's only getting worse. I think we're seeing the collapse of the car market that was sure to happen after then insane high in the market a couple years ago. I'm already seeing high level badlands for 10 to 15k off (Have a quote IN HAND for a lux badlands hardtop sasquatch for $54,995 Right now). If Stellantis DOES slash MSRP's that much, everyone else is going to have to follow (Only diehard bronco lovers are going to buy a bronco when a similar jeep is $20,000 less) Thoughts?
This. All the possible gains you could make by waiting could just as easily be wiped out by tariffs or inflation.
Im not saying thats certain - just possible. With ‘25s coming very soon prices may move a bit, but i doubt they drop much lower as Ford is starting to cut production.
If you got a quote now and are happy with it and its in your means - then even if the price does drop later just realize you paid so you could have more time to enjoy it, so it wasn't wasted.
I just bought recently and I'll be honest that I thought about the Jeep discounts I was seeing. But I would say I'm a bit worried about Stellantis' future. What happens if they go Bankrupt? It's not going to be the end of the world, but something to consider. I thought about that.Just my opinion but see what news you all have. I bought my 22 Bronco in March 23 for MSRP ($36K Bronco Base). One year later Carvana offered me $46K. Its not worth that much today but you would be hard pressed to buy any new Bronco for $36K or any similar vehicle. I have no regrets, it was the right time for me. Dave Ramsey is not always right. He recommends never buying a new vehicle.Sure there is, for example, we guessed the market was going to go nuts, and bought a new 2020 expedition MAX with max tow for 51k out the door including taxes. They shortly went up 20k after that. So that was definitely the right time to buy there, the wrong time to buy was 2021 to about 2023, as prices were way over market due to high demand and low supply. Well that's flip flopped, theres a huge supply and low demand right now. My local dealership has 53 new 2024 broncos on their lot....
I think Stellantis will be fine now that they kicked Tavares out. It's going to be a rough couple of years for them to redirect some of their corporate policies plus make changes to their upcoming product line to more closely align with their customers' wants (and budgets), but I think they'll get it turned around.I just bought recently and I'll be honest that I thought about the Jeep discounts I was seeing. But that being said - I like to think I made a rational logical choice but I'm old enough to know I really made an emotional choice and then came up with a myriad of reasons it was rational and logical![]()
Dave Ramsey is a boomer carmudgeon who doesn't have any understanding of the modern economy, still preaching what worked well in the 1970s and 1980s...I bought my 22 Bronco in March 23 for MSRP ($36K Bronco Base). Yeah -- and Toyota isn't the realbilI picked up a 2024 Badlands Sasquatch with high/lix package, 2.7, painted top, etc.
MSRP with destination charge broke $70k. Got it for mid $50s.
Let’s level set here: for the price of entry for a Toyota Landcruiser, I walked away with a far more capable vehicle.
If it’s the vehicle you want, it’s a solid price.
Well, he does have a point about spending more than you can afford and being forever in debt.Dave Ramsey is a boomer carmudgeon who doesn't have any understanding of the modern economy, still preaching what worked well in the 1970s and 1980s...
If I had lived my 44 years according to Dave, my life would have been a shit ton less enjoyable than it has been up to this point.
It's called the American way. Our whole 30 year mortgage system which is institutionally how home ownership has been driven is inherently based around you being in debt the rest of your lifeWell, he does have a point about spending more than you can afford and being forever in debt.
Time's a wasting for enjoyment. As stated, if you're happy with the quote, go for it. Real estate, cars, up or down, sometimes you "win" sometimes you "lose".All the possible gains you could make by waiting could just as easily be wiped out by tariffs or inflation.
