Is anyone familiar with or tried this type of fuse for an amp power wire? I was thinking of mounting it to the under hood battery terminal assembly. The amp wire would bolt to the fuse holder stud.

As long as it’s sized right for wire you are running. I would suggest a normal fuse/holder typically used for car audio. Easier to find if you get a little crazy with volume or blow the fuse accidentally some how.

Yup I used those before.

Never for an amp. Pretty rare that an amp needs more than a 30 amp fuse unless you are going big. But I've used that before for an air compressor.

Yup I used those before.

Never for an amp. Pretty rare that an amp needs more than a 30 amp fuse unless you are going big. But I've used that before for an air compressor.
I'll be running probably a 4 gauge power wire from the battery to under the dash, which will then split to power both a kicker 400.4 and 500.1 amp. So I'm probably looking at an 80 amp fuse at the battery, to protect that 4 gauge wire.

I looked at these for a power supply but I didn't think the terminal cover will close with this. Go to powerwerx for a better fit. I'll try to send the part I used in a bit.

I've got that sort of setup in my other car. With this fuse I thought maybe I can avoid having an unfused length of wire to the more traditional fuse. And some of the plastic cased auto fuses I'm not so sold on them.

I use those MRBF “Marine Rated Battery Fuse” on my many vehicles. SxS, UTV, tractor, F350. Havent done the Bronco wiring yet but I’m sure it will get one as well. Just make sure you keep a spare in the glove box. Most auto parts places will be clueless

I've got that sort of setup in my other car. With this fuse I thought maybe I can avoid having an unfused length of wire to the more traditional fuse. And some of the plastic cased auto fuses I'm not so sold on them.

This will allow you to crimp or solder a lug on, then use a but connector to your supply wire. Powerwerx has up to 8 gauge, Dell City has a six gauge in red or black. These take a Maxi fuse. Plenty of length to work with and it will allow you to close the terminal cover.

Those are nice for smaller loads, but OP is planning to run 4ga.

I obviously didn't read his post very well. I guess my old brain never thought about needing that much amperage to run a car stereo. I just ran a 6 gauge, 50 AMP line to the rear bumper to charge two, 110 Ah, AGM batteries in an off grid camper. I am not really into car audio that much anymore but will the stock alternator handle that much draw?

Most car audio systems aren’t steady state draws, like a light or air compressor or battery charger would be.

They instead are very peaky - and it’s mostly bass. When the bass hits it’s a big draw and you need the amps, but other than that it’s not nearly that high. Back in the day (and maybe still on really large systems) you could get by with a big capacitor to ensure you had some juice for those really big bass hits.
