I'm looking to hardwire my Valentine 1 Radar detector by tapping into the power in the glove box and hooking it up to the overhead switch all the way to the right (#6?). I want to be able to turn it off if it's going nuts. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do a clean run of the wire from the dash to somewhere in front of the driver at the bottom of the windshield? I can't be the first to do this...

Tap it off the mirror, its easy and clean at that location.

Wouldn't just hitting mute be good if not easier vs turning the whole unit on and off all the time? maybe just me

The lines for the Aux switches are sitting by the fuse box wrapped up. Then there are 5 additional unconnected wires run throughout the vehicle. Two of those run from the fuse box to the passenger kick panel. I'd connect the Aux 6 wire to one of those wires that run to the passenger kick panel, and then extend that wire behind the dash to wherever you want to go.

If you wanted to mount it near the top of the windshield... there is a second unconnected wire that runs from the passenger kick panel to the top of the windshield on the passenger side. It is intended to be used for a light bar, but you could use it for your radar detector.

I want the radar down low on the dash vs up high. Even if you mute it it's still annoying so having it hooked up to the switch will be nice. I don't envision using all the switches so tapping into it will work out fine.

I’ve done this for a USB port, right in the center of the dash. Drilled a hole and fished it into the glovebox. Connected to aux6. Edit: oops I see someone already referenced my post in another thread

Fair enough. Only downside is
Line of sight being so low.

not sure if valentine offers, but my escort had a hard wire kit that gave me the mute button and a king set of wire. I installed the button next to my shifter on my vw Jetta, tapped power off the fuse box and ran the rest of the wire to the detector.

I didn’t know people still used radar detectors.
