Yo,

Anyone own the AFE charge pipes and attempted to put an aftermarket BOV on them?

I've attempted both the boomba and the turbosmart and neither of them sit flush. The boost sound is significantly weker when compared to the stock charge pipes with either BOV installed

Am I missing something?

Is there a gasket that came with the bov?

Is the pipe on the left (in the picture) threaded? It looks like you’re bottoming out on that pipe and can’t pull the two parts together.

So, I've detected the issue. This port is too tall for the aftermarket BOV to sit on.

The reason the stock BOV sits is because the plunger is free and unrestricted, so it's already being compressed by about 2mm when fully seated. The turbosmart plunger is tucked within the solid housing, so nothing there to compress.

So I can either find some sort of spacer to fill the void, mill down that port myself, ooooorrrrrr return the damn thing 😑

Follow up:

In case someone else runs into the same issue. I'm hearing that there SHOULD have been an included gasket with the kit to fill this exact void. For me, there was no gasket with the hardware and it wasn't listed or mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Possibly a different revision?

I've reached out to the vendor and supplier to clarify on this, but no word back yet.

Sooooooo, I ended up making my own 😅

Found this at the hardware store, and it was a perfect fit after I drilled some holes for the fasteners to pass through. Now both setups, the turbosmart and the boomba, seat perfectly and sound as they should.

I thought you were referring to the o-ring 😑 no solid gasket was included with either kits. I wasn't invited to that party.

That’s probably what’s missing maybe? Let me look at the stock one

I was going to suggest using RTV silicone as the gasket, but looks like you got it figured out.

I installed afe charge pipes, afe momentum gt intake, and mishimoto intercooler on my 24 2.3 badlands a couple weeks ago. i lost 2mpg, however it does seem like it has more power when excellating and passing especially at 2500-3500 rpm range

has anyone else had a similar experience losing mpg with the install of charge pipes and a larger intercooler?

I don't notice stepping on the gas more, but I could be because it's noticeably more fun to drive now
