but don't you generally PULL a parking brake handle to engage it? Likewise then, PUSHING the handle disengages it.The parking brake switch though... now THAT is wired backwards. You shouldn't have to push in to release the parking brake, doesn't even make sense.
That's how my GTI does it. Pull it up to engage, click the button and "push" it (back down) to disengage. And come to think of it, I had a '72 Corona with a T-shaped parking brake handle under the dash; pull it (out) to engage, turn and push it (back in) to disengage.
But then there's the foot brakes; push with your foot to engage, pull the handle to disengage it.
I was initially hesitant about the foot-operated parking brakes where you push to engage, then push AGAIN to disengage. Now THAT makes no sense. But it didn't actually confuse me in daily operation...
