Sorry, I'll go get some more popcorn 🍿
But seriously, as long as we're here, what happens if a traditional automatic transmission is in gear on a car that's not runnning, you bypass the interlocks, and you start the car?

It would start to move forward.
Basically would be the same if it were running, you placed it in drive and let off the brake.

Transmission Range sensor determines park for auto
Gear shift position sensor determines neutral for manual
So Manual doesn't have a Park , just neutral, thought so. I think people here are missing the point of why lawyers will not allow manufactures to remote start a manual. I am a robotics tech at a automotive tier 1 supplier so I think I fully understand sensors, and how often they can fail.

Ah the "final word" from someone who has nothing to back up anything they're saying, thanks for participating.
LOl, that was yesterday. Today's a new day.

What exactly haven't I backed up

I think the point @zombie was trying to make is that a TR sensor is really no more safe for an automatic than a gear indicator sensor would be for a manual.
Both could be used to verify the vehicle is safe to remote start, and both sensors could also easily fail causing the same potential outcome of the vehicle moving unintendedly 🤷‍♂️

Yes but an automatic has a push button lock that usually requires the brake to be pressed also to move the lever out of park. A manual stick is simply sitting there in the middle. That makes an Auto much safer . Now you could put all types of sensors and write a simple program of and/or, XIC XIO etc commands to create any level of redundancy you can imagine but it all comes down to that one signal that tells it to start and that gear shift lever that can be bumped into gear by a child or pet etc. Back in the early 2000s I installed a remote start on a couple of my custom bikes just as attention getters at large bike events. I always was sitting on the bike when I demoed it and never installed one for a customer due to liability since the shifter is there in the open for anyone to bump. Of course I used a sensor to kill the motor if it was bumped into gear. The argument here seems to have moved from why Doesn't Ford make remote start for a manual to how it can be done. Of course it can easily be done, just not safe enough to cover the liability.

You're talking about two different things now... My point was there is a sensor to determine that a vehicle with an automatic is in park, and you pretended there wasn't. Someone provided the proof that there isn't really a difference and now you're talking about someone physically moving the shifter.

If my doors are locked, who exactly is going to "bump" the gear stick somehow magically into gear? If someone is in my vehicle, I wouldn't need a remote starter, would I?

I've been driving manuals for 33 years now, I've never had one magically jump into gear.

I would think the risk/liability of a manual getting bumped into gear is less than that of remote start being used while the vehicle is in an enclosed garage...

I don't recall ever pretending that an automatic doesn't use sensors, lol. As I stated earlier it sounds like you have a great idea to make some money. You have obviously thought this out well and more so than anyone previously. You don't even have to design the remote start system, just go to some company that has been selling them for decades and tell them, hey I have this idea for manual remote starts ! There's obviously a market for them so you'll become a millionaire with your design
I'd suggest one thing though and that would be some type of mechanical interlock like auto transmissions have. Maybe a collor that you have to pull up with your fingers before the gear shift can be move. Most industrial man lifts have them on the drive stick. That might be a pain to use though. Oh 5hit,what am I rambling on for, you've thought this through , you got this!

My Chrysler van automatically applied the electronic parking brake when it was put into Park.

I don't know if remote start checked for that, but it's easy to do. That should calm the lawyers down.

Recently I replaced my stick blender. The new one has a silly interlock not unlike that. Pain in the ass, frankly.

Yeah there are some Ford models that will auto that also.

Yeah the wife's new Mazda cx 50 does that. The point of my post is that the lawyers are never gonna green light a remote start on a manual unless there is a mechanical type interlock on the stick to keep in in neutral position.

I don't know why you are so stuck on the gearshift randomly moving. If someone was in the vehicle, I wouldn't need to use remote start, I'd just have them start if for me.

I get that it's likely legal worries that is why they won't enable remote start for manual transmissions, but nudging a gear lever doesn't magically slot it into 1st, and if it was any other gear it would likely stall.

I use mine in the summer when its hot and winter when its cold to get it up to a comfortable temp. By doing it on auto I dont have to think about it and where its parked I can hear it start inside my house. When Im getting ready for work thats like an alarm that says I have 15min to get moving or Im gonna be late for work.
Do you need to set the temp you want before you turn off the vehicle - the night before when you are parking?
I didnt find any climate controlls in the app
