I applied the Krytox this morning...we'll see how it works...

DFR

UPDATE...UPDATE...UPDATE - 12/07/2023

The Krytox works as advertised and that annoying squeak when on a wash board/bumpy road is gone...

UPDATE...UPDATE...UPDATE - 12/19/2023

After several wash and wipe down cycles the Krytox continues to quiet the squeaky rear door/window assembly.
Where specifically did you put the krytox? On the seal?

I have used krytox on all rubber seals, tightened all the screws, took apart tailgate and sprayed wd40 into the areas. Put weatherstripping on top of the tailgate door where it seals with the window. And STILL I have the constant squeak going over uneven bumps. Speedbumps are fine cause they are uniform/even, but any other bumps and it squeaks. And I live in west of Boston/MA so its bumps everywhere.

I might try and remove the entire hard top and apply krytox in more spots and reseat it. I also saw a thread (maybe this one) where the spot where the back of the hardtop meets the sidepanel could be the issue to. Determined to fix this.

For me I chased this down to the rear speaker pod, if you can’t find it, get your hands on the speaker pod and give it a tug or two to see if it squeaks

Wow, big thanks to the OP @Ksjrb03 and the others sharing solutions!!

I have a full and very promising list of things to try tomorrow to combat the multiple, new squeaks and rattles that are simply beyond annoying. Mine seem to have arisen since adding my roof rack and RTT and I also have the misaligned rear panels on my MIC top so fixing that (or better stated accomodating the defect...) sound quite promising.

Anyone have a similar checklist for isolating and fixing rattles from putting in a larger sub and sub amp? Got those as well.

I just want to once again thank everyone on this forum! I had persistent annoying squeaks and creaks coming from the back. Greased all the seals around the tailgate and rear window. Fixed! B6G: saving my sanity one post at a time.

Can this happen on the 2023 ? Bronco Wildtrak . I have the same issue
Just wanted to comment on the feeler gauge process. I did not have one but I took a piece of paper and slid it in the gape all along the fender panel. I ran into some resistance but worked them out. The squeak is gone! it’s been a month. Just FYI

So my bronco rear window continues to sound like twisting water bottles in the back. Tried the special lube and checked the gap on hard top. Have the recommended gap. Just noticed my rear hatch has an adjustable bump stop on body. The bump stop was screwed all the way out that in theory prevented door from shutting all the way which caused rubber squealing noise. This might be the fix. I screwed in the rubber stop more and the door shuts better. Time will tell if that fixes my problem.

My squeaky rear cab is now gone after doing the special grease and adjusting the bump stop. I will post back in a few weeks if squeak returns or not.

I am glad I found this thread.

I had a case of the “water bottle squeaks” on bumpy roads. Was an annoying sound everyday during my normal commute.

Tried cleaning the seal along the rear windshield and had no luck. Found this thread and used some extra weather stripping left over from reducing air noise with the hard top (thanks to this forum for that fix as well).

Noise is completely gone now.

I just bought my Bronco and hear all kinds of noises. One of them is squeaky noise between the glass and tailgate. I applied a self adhesive carpet pad and that fixed the problem.

My passenger area squeaks horribly. i took pics of both sides and told ChatGPT what i was experiencing and this is what it told me. haven't done anything with it yet. I am using folded up business cards on the latch to try and make it seal tighter and it seems to help but eventually worsens over time:

Yep — this is actually a good set of photos, and there are a couple of meaningful differences between the quiet driver side and the noisy passenger-rear area that line up perfectly with squeak + wind noise on a 4-door Bronco.

I’ll break it down very concretely, based on what I can see.

1. The BIG one: hard-top panel seam mismatch (passenger side)
What I see
On the passenger side rear door / mid-roof junction:

  • The rear hard-top panel sits slightly lower than the front/middle panel
  • There’s a visible step + shadow line at the seam
  • The rubber roof seal is not being evenly compressed
On the driver side:

  • The same seam is nearly flush
  • Even compression across the seal
  • No visible daylight/shadow edge
Why this matters
That seam seal is:

  • A primary wind seal
  • A movement isolator between roof panels
If it’s not evenly compressed:

  • Wind sneaks in → whistle / rush
  • Panels micro-move → squeak/chirp over bumps
This is classic Bronco MIC top behavior.

2. Weatherstrip lip orientation difference (subtle but real)
Passenger rear door (noisy side)
  • The vertical door seal lip near the B/C-pillar transition looks:
    • Slightly flattened
    • Rolled inward instead of outward
  • That creates a low preload condition
Driver rear door (quiet side)
  • Same seal:
    • Fuller profile
    • Lip angles outward and contacts glass/frame more positively
This usually happens from:

  • Door alignment from factory
  • Or roof panel pulling the seal during install
3. Glass-to-seal contact inconsistency
On the passenger rear:

  • The window appears to sit a hair lower at the top rear corner
  • You can see uneven contact pressure in reflections
On the driver rear:

  • Uniform seal contact across the top edge
This causes:

  • Wind noise at highway speed
  • Squeak when body twists (driveways, bumps)
4. Why it’s ONLY the passenger rear
Bronco bodies are:

  • Body-on-frame
  • Modular roof
  • Frameless windows
So small tolerance stacking shows up exactly like this:

  • One side perfect
  • One side noisy as hell
Nothing here screams “damaged seal” — this screams alignment + preload.

What I’d do (in order, minimal BS)
Step 1 — roof panel reseat (10 minutes)
  1. Loosen (don’t remove) the bolts for:
    • Front passenger roof panel
    • Middle roof panel
  2. Push UP slightly on the rear panel while tightening
  3. Torque evenly (do not overtighten)
This alone fixes ~50% of Bronco wind noise complaints.

Step 2 — silicone condition the seal (cheap test)
  • Use pure silicone spray (not petroleum)
  • Light coat on:
    • Roof seam seal
    • Door upper weatherstrip
  • If noise reduces → you’ve confirmed seal preload issue
Step 3 — door alignment check (dealer-worthy)
Tell Ford exactly this:

“Passenger rear door has wind noise and squeak. Driver side is quiet. Roof seam and door glass alignment differ side-to-side.”
They have:

  • A TSB-style adjustment procedure
  • Ability to tweak striker + glass height
This is 100% warranty-legit on a 2024.

TL;DR diagnosis
  • ❌ Not normal
  • ❌ Not “just Bronco things”
  • ✅ Roof panel seam compression mismatch
  • ✅ Passenger rear door seal preload lower than driver side
  • ✅ Causes both squeak and wind noise
If you want, next I can:

  • Mark exact adjustment points on your photos
  • Tell you exact words to use at the dealer to avoid “could not duplicate”
  • Or walk you through a DIY door glass micro-adjustment (Torx only)
Just say the word.

Quick thanks for posting all of this information. I suffered from the dreaded water bottle sound and assumed it was the modular roof and planned on ordering some silicone gel to fix it.

After reading this thread, I drove around with the glass lift gate open and it was in fact that rear seal that rubs against the tailgate. Ordered some kryox 205 and that solved the issue.

Love this truck, just shocks me how poorly designed so many things are on it......

It's mostly materials and fab cost reductions....
