As I understand the unlimited plan includes in-motion now and up to 2 months of international travel...
But it’s now $165 for unlimited, I guess the extra $15 gets you in motion and unlimited.

Got excited when they released the $50 standalone plan. Just received mine and tried it out. 42 mbps in bad heavy rain and mediocre sky view. Stoked to have internet (and therefore comms) in the Alaskan Backcountry!

My dish arrived in two days! Lots of mounting options to pick from that I can tell, I want to be able to easily click this into my TrailRax and remove it when I'm not using it. I see Starlink sells a rack mount, why not that one?

That one could be a good option. It came after I bought and installed it with a different option. I still like it as it's more discreet and I would rarely remove it. But I still can if I need to. Just two screws.

I have a trailrax half rack, so that option takes up too much useable storage space. I’m going to mount on the underside of the rack. Will have my mount on Monday to start mocking it up and taking pics.

I was thinking about making a pole mount receiver that attaches to the trail sights to be used when stationary at the campsite. I'll probably build it for myself, but is anyone else interested in that? I'd just keep a short 24-30" pole or so in the bronco, then set it up just to keep the dish out of the dust and dirt on the ground.

Alternatively, I could just mount a 1" ball to an existing trail sight bracket, but the cost of the balls and the arm would be a whole lot more than a short piece of PVC pipe and a bracket.

Sketch that up for us?

What about using a offroading flag mount that goes on the trail sites. If you make the pole compatible with the mount system for the tall offraod flags win win.

Maybe I’d have to see what you’re talking about, but this is what my flag mount looks like. I was thinking of just taking that off and welding a 1.5-2” tall cylinder to the bracket and having a thumb screw thread to tighten against the inserted pole. I just need to figure out a way to not make it ugly.

This is mine. If a quick disconnect could be replicated from my pole manufacturer then you could attach a stubby say 12" pole.

I mounted the Starlink Mini using the top two screws from the rear speaker mount in my 2-door. I drilled two holes in the factory Starlink mount, then elongated the holes with the drill-bit (not very neatly) to make it easier to align with the speaker mount hole locations. I used some felt pads where the plastic mount would contact painted Bronco parts. Finally I used 3/4" bumper pads in two locations between the face of the Starlink and the underside of the roof to prevent the Starlink from rocking back and forth while also providing a bit of airflow above it (it gets very hot). I'm powering the Starlink from an Ecoflow Delta 2 that I keep in the back of the Bronco.

Parked in the street in front of my house and got 127 Mbps down. As I drove around the speed fluctuated but remained steady enough for me to listen to a Teams call for an hour. (I was not watching Teams, just listening in). I'm not a full-time digital nomad or anything. Just need internet occasionally for videoconferences, maps, etc while camping without cell signal.

This setup is fantastic for me! Hopefully you'll find this simple mounting solution to be helpful.

I can also easily detach the Mini from the bracket if I want to toss it in my luggage if I'm flying somewhere I don't expect to have reliable internet.

fantastic, i would mind doing it this way on the 4-door, i like it being inside, worry it'll get too hot resting against the roof that will also be taking on heat

I first had it zip tied and crammed into place with a towel under it. It was tight to the roof. The surface got too hot to touch on an 80 degree Colorado sunny day. I’m hoping this new arrangement will allow a bit of airflow.
