I WOULD NOT WAIT. There are people on this forum who have had to replace their top multiple times. Wait until the end and you will be fucked if the replacement turns bad. These problems usually appear over time, not immediately. Ford isn't going to warranty you 3 years from when you got your replacement top. It's 3 years from when you bought your Bronco. I'm getting mine done right now so that I've got more than another year, in case the replacement is also bad.
I wonder how Ford would handle that situation. They replace your entire top under warranty. Lets say 6 months later the replacement top has issues (warranty expired)....I would think they still have liability to replace it. If they fixed your engine or transmission (anything really) under warranty and the parts were defective and the issue resurfaced after warranty expiration....I would think they would need to fix it at their cost.
If it went to court, with all the documented known issues about this MIC top....they would likely lose.

How long is the parts warranty? It's not going to be 3 years, and it's not going to reset the vehicle's warranty as to that part. I'd bet, at best, it would be a year. You MIGHT get Ford to work with you as "goodwill," but Ford is so awash in warranty claims that I would not bet on that. And who is going to sue Ford over a MIC top after the vehicle warranty expired?

Like I said, get it replaced ASAP.

EDIT: The Hard Top Part Warranty is 24 Months, Unlimited Mileage. So I think that's probably what you'd get -- either your 3-year vehicle warranty or 24 months from when the replacement was installed, whichever is later. If that's right, everyone who has their top replaced will have at least 2 years from their last replacement to get it replaced again. That would be some comfort, because they seem to start showing defects within that time. 4DR BRONCO HARDTOP | Accessories.Ford.com

They have zero liability to replace it after the factory warranty is up. That’s not how a warranty works.

If something is replaced a day before the warranty is up, it’s no longer warranty the next day.

That being said, Ford would still fix the issue that close to warranty being up, but that doesn’t mean they need to.

Parts warranty makes no difference on something replaced under factory warranty. It doesn’t apply at all.

Parts warranty only applies on something the customer paid for.

Holy cow. Well then, we're basically screwed if the replacement top goes kaput after the vehicle warranty. So, I'll stand by what I said originally -- It's best to get into the dealership ASAP and get as many replacements as you need before the original warranty expires.

Get it replaced now. You will likely need one or two more after that before your warranty expires. I'm on my 4th hardtop (counting the original one).

@Ford Motor Company
You can do better.
Extend the warranty on the MIC hard top for the lifetime of the original ownership.

Just wondering if anyone else is having this same problem. Both the drivers side and passenger side are developing these hairline cracks in the lower window panel area. It hard to see in the picture but seems like I'm getting more and more every day

What in the royal hell. I'm so sorry.

I'm now past 2 months getting my top replaced the first time. At least your dealership knows what they are doing. But 5 times, let alone 1 time, is completely unacceptable.

@Ford, you deserve to go bankrupt like ADV.

I've thought about replacing the Bronco with a Ranger Raptor, but it would probably be as poorly built.

Do us all a favor and write corporate Ford a letter. That is BS. I love my Bronco and this is my only long term concern...the MIC. Ford should extend the warranty on these for the life time of the original ownership AND....they need to fix the problem! Very sorry you are going through that.

It's only a matter of time until a class action gets filed for the MIC top fiasco. Not enough out there yet to be out of warranty but it's nearing that point where a lot of owners will be getting angry when the tops fail just outside warranty.

So you call Ford directly, not through the dealership? I'm fed up with my dealership (no communication). If I have to do this again I will use another.
