The Jimny is the Samurai we had. It's really small.
The Everest would absolutely steal Bronco and Explorer sales. Broncos are too rugged meaning loud, drafty and rough riding but look and are tough. The Explorer is too soft, quiet and damn near luxurious but looks like you're on your way to pick up the kids before soccer practice. Now this Everest Tremor takes the best of both, rugged looking and capable but with a hard top and enough comfort and space to sell to the weekend warriors and those needing to queue up at the drop-off zone ... it's what Toyota has been selling the whole time but Ford doesn't want to play.
I bought one in Asia. I was hoping to also get one in NA when the same platform T6 Ranger came to NA. Ranger and Everest would naturally be built in the same plant.
Too rugged for some maybe but it wasn’t built to compete with Toyotas or anything else the top and doors don’t come off of. It’s a Wrangler competitor plain and simple. Anyone who screwed up and bought it as a replacement for the soccer mom Explorer didn’t know what they were buying.
