I guess it depends on ur use. Off road, crawling I could see going stick.

For me... shifting is for sport cars and getting on it or in the rocks.

As mentioned above, it's not a V8... The 2.7 does well but, needs more n still shopping for tuning/parts upgrade.

Having a stick adds some theft protection... lol

Btw...

Team 2 Door = Purpose Built and Bad Ass!!! 👍😎👍

Every 4X4 I’ve had has been off road… this will see both, and will not be a pavement queen.

I am guilty of slowing down approaching a light in traffic in order to row through the gears again. The noise of the VooDoo is also a huge incentive.
I do love a manual even in traffic even without the Ford
Philharmonic 32-Valve Orchestra with Chewbacca gargling on lead vocals.

This kind of answers the question…!!!
Thanks @BOLD Renegade93

I am still willing to trade Shelby drives for Bronco drives!
I wish I lived closer to you, would love to make that trade! Regardless, I have the 2.3L 7MT 2DR and have never regretted it nor wished I had more power. Honestly the only thing I don't like about the 2.3 is the sound it makes, but the 2.7 is not much better.

My stance ( which of course means absolutely nothing) ” rowing” a GT 350 isn’t the same as rowing a rolling brick. As you stated, I would get my shifting fix in the Shelby when the need was desired. The Bronco would be an automatic because rowing a truck or a Bronco seems like a form of punishment to me. Enjoy whatever

love how the 4 banger folks claim they have plenty of power and always add they have or are planning a tune…
We claim that because it does have plenty of power for what we intend to do with it, but a good portion of us also want more power. Since the 2.7 with the 7MT wasn’t an option (and I would have gotten it if it was), a tune makes sense to give it a bit more scoot. Sounds like a logical solution.

Glad you love our claims though!

The 2.3 isn't the greatest sound stock, I have Corsa dual tips on mine and to me it sounds good, especially running thru the gears, think Focus RS and you'll be close.

Thanks for the exhaust input…. I don’t plan on changing the exhaust in order to hear it… I just want to row gears.

I'd agree with this. Apart from sitting idle, I can't even hear the engine/exhaust - which, for me, is just fine. At idle, it sounds like a sewing machine. 😣

The turbo/wastegate though is pretty noticeable, especially up around 10+ psi.

love how the 4 banger folks claim they have plenty of power and always add they have or are planning a tune…my v6 10spd (with a tune) has adequate power but nowhere near the mustang coyote 6spd I traded for it…but you be you
Well, you aren't wrong

If I could have got the 7MT with the V6, that would have been my preference, for sure. But... you can't. And the V6 does have more torque, and the 2.7 has it's own tune, and all of that. And we could get into common engine issues, but that's been kicked around a lot if anyone is interested in dragging that stuff back into the mix.

And it's true, that in the hands of most drivers, the Auto is going to be a much more "capable" off road rig than a Manual - it simplifies a lot of things. One pedal trail control is like cheat mode.

But.. despite all of that - what we are saying is that the weaker engine isn't ~that~ much weaker, but the 7MT ~is~ that much more fun to drive than the Auto --- if you are into shifting, that is. Not everyone is, and that's fine. The lil 4 banger has more hp/torque stock, on 87 octane gas, than any stock v8 Ford ever put into a Bronco, after all. The v6's just have even more.

The ProCal tune just happens to be particularly effective on the i4, a ~10% upgrade across the board for the price of running 91+ octane fuel - although since it was recently neutered I have to admit I've soured on it somewhat. You can get better power gains through 3rd party custom tunes for roughly the same price (albeit without any warranty support) -- the power gain was just kind of a side benefit to rev matching, ASS memory, upgrade programming, speedometer calibration, engine monitor and a code reader - all with some semblance of warranty support. With the removal of rev matching and ASS memory, the value of that is significantly lessened.

For me, only two questions:
1. Do you have a trailer, esp. a boat that you need to back up while craning your neck? lol
2. When are you likely to have knee or hip replacement on the left?

Decision made...!!!!

I was able to meet a member who wanted to trade Bronco rides for GT350 rides.
He has the 7-speed... he is a true car guy (Thanks Tom) who has a stable of manuals, including one that makes my 526 hp Shelby seen gutless!

I was very impressed with the manual when the rpms were kept in the proper range. His Bronco was optioned perfectly.
What a FUN vehicle to drive...!!!!

I then drove to a local Ford dealer and drove a 2-door Bronco with the 10 speed.
I can say there was more of a seat-o-the-pants meter difference that I was expecting!

The wife said get what you want, but I know she would enjoy driving the Bronco.
She is VERY good with a stick, but has no interest anymore. (Reason#1)

When I did the test drive in the 10 speed, the grunt and the noise from the exhaust was better than I thought. (Reasons#2&3)

I still have the Shelby for manual driving.

The local dealer is having a Hot Pepper Red Badlands with the Sasquatch package and the 334A group and some extra goodies being shipped in a trade.
I should take ownership next week!

Thanks for all the collective feedback my friends!!!!!!!!!!

Yup. Everyone talks up the v6, and what they say is true… but that 7Mt is a blast to drive, but you are right, the exhaust note is … not great.

that said - I don’t think you will regret your choice and congrats! I wanted a HPR but couldn’t quite find the right one. Nice score

Manual vs. auto is really pretty simple. You either have to have a manual or you don't. If you don't, you'll be happier with the auto.
I'm here only because of the manual. Would drive something else if that wasn't an option. Didn't require any thought at all.

Well as much as we’d love to have you be a part of the 7MT Bronco club (totally made up by me just now), can’t fault you for going with your gut! Enjoy the HPR Badsquatch and best of luck!

Are you going to offroad it? Manual on the freeway and manual on the trail are different beasts. Mine is a DD so I would never get a manual. Flipping gears and working the clutch in rush hour traffic is for masochists :D
