Own a Shadow Black OBX. The nice part is the OBX black grille matches the Bronco.

Would I do it again, probably not. I don't wash my vehicle often enough and black shows dirt like folks know. Does the paint hold up? Yes. It is a modern paint. If you are running off road with brush stripes, it will show more than other colors, but it isn't physically damaged any more than any other paint.

I bought this one because it was an abandoned order at the dealer. I had my Day 2 res and order in, but the dealer gave me a good price on the Bronco and a heck of a deal on my Tacoma TRD Pro.

Color for me wasn't the issue, I just didn't want the two tone interior!!

Originally was considering ordering a Shadow Black but then got talked into going with Carbonized Gray for obvious reason that the appearance of the black refinish will be hard to maintain and it tends to diminish over time. Sent the dealer my build sheet for CG Badlands and was going in on Sunday to put a deposit on the order. Saw a black Bronco on Friday. It had the murdered out look and was very sharp. Appearance wise shadow black tends to elevate Bronco's presence. It doesn't help very much that the wife is pushing for the black color as well....

Had a black Jimmy back in the day but the paint was lacquer based rather than the EPA compliant water base color. How hard is the current black refinish to maintain? I would consider professionally applied ceramic coat but then what is the maintenance required to keep that deep shine? It will most likely not be garage kept, that space is full of bikes. Thinking of keep it under a vehicle cover, but even the better covers leave micro scratches in paint.

I have a Shadow Black Heritage Edition on order. I think it looks great with the white top and wheels. Don’t know why the color wouldn’t hold up. Mine will be garaged. Black is unique with Broncos-few choose it and it does stand out. Mainly, I like the black Bronco look so that’s what I went with.

Love my Shadow Black. I think the Bronco
looks like a beast in black. As mentioned before it's a head turner when clean. It will show micro scratches more than other colors particularly in the sun. It depends on how you're going to use it. If you're off roading a lot then the Carbon Grey would probably hide scratches better. Grey was my second choice too. Also depends on how you maintain the paint and how much effort you put into keeping it clean. In my experience Black takes more effort to keep it looking good. I had multiple surgeries right after I bought mine and had to use car washes to keep it clean the first 9 months. I recently wanted to add graphics to mine but the car washes really did a number on the paint with swirl and brush marks. I didn't want to apply the graphics over the paint in the condition it was in so I had a three step paint correction professionally done then had it ceramic coated. Now it looks awesome again. A professional ceramic coat requires yearly inspections to maintain the warranty so if you're into the effort it's worth it. I'm sticking with hand washing or touch less car washes from now on.

Ford offers 10 colors and half of them are in the grey to black range which is kind of silly. It would be nice to see a few of the grey's removed and a new color or two added for 2025.

Went to Vegas off roadeo 2 weeks ago. They had a 22 black badlands and they explicitly pointed out how good the paint looked on that truck after being ran for 2 years despite it constantly being brushed against scrub by idiots like myself. Seems like the paint on the broncos is pretty decent to good, for whatever that’s worth.
