11.9mpg in a 2 door 2.3 is insane even with Sasquatch.

Article says his engine went out @ 92k, how’s yours doing?
Haven't even had to change the plugs yet. It's running strong and I am really pleased with the 2.7 Ecoboost in the Bronco.

They're just going off the dash register which doesn't mean much if you don't know how they were just driving it or when it was reset.

From the article: "A local Ford dealer tech supposedly told Bryant that the spark plugs broke off in cylinders two and four, slamming so hard against the piston heads that it caused irreversible damage."

I wonder what would cause something like that? In all my years driving many vehicles, including several over 100,000k and one up to 230,000k, I've never had a spark plug break off.

Had one break off in a Volvo with 55K miles. It was catastrophic. And expensive.

Had the tops break off and my dad experience a plug blowing out of the cylinder head on a GMC straight 6 truck. He screwed it back in by hand and finished the short drive he was on.

The plugs screw in. Only if they are too long the electrode might hit the piston or if cheap plugs the inner guts release from the assembly.

My guess would be wrong plugs or without further knowledge broken timing chain or belt and valves not plugs slammed into pistons.

If it is an interference engine it should have had timing belt/chain replaced at 75k

My 22 2D is about to flip to “ 10,000” miles. Not a typo.

My '21 is about to flip to 15,000. I only average 500 miles/month. I can't fathom averaging 3,333 miles a month over the same 30 months I've had mine. These high mileage people must buy oil change kits by the case, and drive around with them! 😅
