I called awhile back and asked about an instal price. Was quoted $500. Seems kinda steep for a 30-45 min job. Maybe that price has gone down now knowing the timing for a production unit instal. 🤞 Not afraid of putting it together by myself but having to rent a truck to fit a one-piece top also seems like a pain. Hopefully there’s a pre order instal discount for those of us that have been on this rollercoaster! They installed my hood for free last year for me and it was much appreciated! Not asking for a free instal of the top but a decent price would be nice. Looking forward to the updates and finally getting my hardtop

If your buddy’s buying your soft top, he’ll need those pillar trim covers you noted. The side windows of your soft top attach to them. Without them, he’ll need to buy these from Ford. There’s no reason to keep them under your hard top.

Don’t quote me on this, but I believe once you remove those trim covers you should reattach the 3 bolts (per side) on your Bronco. He should already have those bolts on his vehicle.
your absolutely correct about first removing the plastic covers and then having to reattach the 3 bolts per side. It was very much specified in the TOR install video. I don't recall it being pointed out in the FORD OEM install video.

Thanks for your response. I don't want my buddy to find out he needs something that I left on the bronco and have to take the whole top off.

IT LOOKS LIKE ITS GONNA HAPPEN

Shipping disassembled to reduce cost on a $7k top is not ideal, but I can understand it. Shipping without the seals attached? Seems very silly. That’s one of - if not the - most important factors in water-sealing the top. Leaving that to the customer who will do this once in their lifetime is an odd choice.
All of that except the savings on shipping. In fact, they are profiting from the shipping, and completely overcharging customers on the shipping. I gave up and bought a TOR so I know the shipping costs. Weight is probably about the same but the TOR top being one piece was a much larger crate than the ADV will be. Both companies are in SoCal so it is apples to apples for distance and both were residential. To my door, with lift gate, and dropped in front of my garage was over 40% less with TOR. TOR used a big name reputable service as well.

With these delays they should be charging the cost of shipping with no mark-up. From the looks of the assembly video these are coming of the boat, being looked over and put in a box to the customer. The only thing a customer should do at that price is assemble the three sides period. Actually shouldn't have to even do that.

Since they have the production units what's the hold-up on shipping right now? Asking for a friend.

Edit: ADV shipping was 75% more. My math was wrong above.

How much was shipping? Without any knowledge, I guessed maybe $400-500??

For my delivery from TOR it was around the $400. That is about 450 miles away. I did my math wrong earlier, ADV was actually over 75% more. That was the ADV day 1 February 2022 price. They have threatened that they would be increasing shipping costs so not sure if that still holds. Could be considerably more by now.

justin, what batch are you in.
I had a conversation with chris about a week ago, I was now supposed to be early march.
I am in batch 1 and a first half hour ordered, I would hope im heading toward the front of the line with people cancelling.
I hope they are not already pushing back the latest fcst as of last week from march to april.

I think they are quickly refunding deposits because most of the people who are giving up are the early reservationists. I would imagine they are getting new orders in very quickly to replace the original sufferers and rather than try and drag along the long term faithful, that they would rather quickly give them their refund rather than try and stretch them along..

Im still hanging in there, if there was another 1 piece option, I would be long gone.
good luck with your plan B. you can always reorder with ADV if they start shipping some day.
I was in the first batch.

I think if at least most of the seals were already attached I honestly wouldn’t have any complaints about it aside from length of development.
I agree.

aw shit, that means Im moving backwards again to April also, well lets see what the new found communication revelation from ADV yields. At least if the start with timely info it will dull the angst.

weather will be nicer to get my assistants to show up.

good luck to you Justin

Thank you. After I canceled I saw the new info about assembly being the responsibility of the owner. So I think I made the right decision. I am not interested in building a top myself. Seems like it is very important that it be done exactly right.

But it can be disassembled for easier storage.
I realistically don’t see anyone disassembling this thing for storage once it’s initially built & whole. Plus, the gaskets/rubber will wear big time during every disassembly / reassembly. They will be compressed too much and not be as tight as the initial assembly. So between the amount of work required to disassemble & reassemble + the risk of wear & tear on the seals, not practical IMO.
It's called sarcasm... That was one of their Top 3 "selling" points on why it was being shipped like an IKEA product (but with a greater chance of problems post-assembly).

One huge reason is to keep the shipping costs lower, the bolt together design allows it to ship flat. Second reason to have our customers assembly is that way they know every detail about their top, if they need to adjust rubber, tighten j-clamps, turn handles, etc then they know exactly what to do. Third reason is because our customers can store the hardtop flat if disassembled (It takes up a lot less space when disassembled). There are more reasons but those are three important ones.
