The Hutchisons yeah. I'd like to keep them if I can.. but I definitely would like to at least get rid of the rear 1.25" spacers (or any spacer)... and redo the brake lines to be completely tucked as we discussed in the other thread.
That would be awesome! Keep it up man. I need to up armor this winter so maybe we can do Wolf Caves or at least Merus sometime this spring w/@kpark_67. I can't keep up financially but I definitely want to be out there with y'all.

I'm also trying to see if I can just use the front caliper parts in the rear (at the loss of the e-brakes that make the rear caliper housings larger and make me need spacers).

I just made a trip to Grand Junction for my skids (all but front) and sliders... and then to Ogden for my rear bumper and they talked me into a roof rack... more pics of those eventually... but teaser pic of the bronco last night in Casper, WY for a fuel stop as I was racing to beat the winter storms... I thought it was good enough to be my first ever instagram post lol

I had no trouble with traction even on the unplowed highways, heavy drifting snow, high winds, etc. Felt very planted and in control the whole time (slippery mode 4A).

That is a really good idea on using the front calipers.... I had not thought of that. You would loose your e brake.... that makes a huge potential for Christmas trees. I wonder if it would work....

I will not have that problem. While I will drool on your Hutchisons , I am sticking with the stockers for appearances sake.

I think that brake line can just be clocked... you would have to replace the crush washer though.... rebleed and I think those would tuck up nicely all along the back side. Just not sure how far you can clock it without having them in hand.

What’s the correct offset to use with the portals to bring them in to Squatch width? Or can you even pull them in that far?

$65k for a Wildtrack + $20k for the portals puts you squarely in Braptor territory.

Ain’t rocket surgery to know which way to go.
That is one of the down sides to portals.... you can not get it back to SAS width... Then again maybe in some circumstances it is an upside. The portals will add 3.5 inch per side..... You can not get a wheel that remotely accounts for going that deep. It would need a +130 to +140..... If it would clear and well... that ain't happening. The extra width does help address the extra height for stability though. Just makes it harder to get through tight areas....

If I were developing portals I might want to make some for the Braptor. You’ve got a market if people who didn’t think twice about paying an extra $50k (dealer markup) with zero performance upgrade. Dropping $20k+ for rear world improvement is nothing.

Not all offroading is about rock climbing folks .....

Some of you out here acting like lift height is the only thing that ever matters.

That's being said, those portals are awesome. Corrects your gearing as well for 37s.

You have a problem with the BRaptor.... it is already 8 inches wider than a Bronco because it essentially has a long arm suspension on it. That is why it requires the amber grill lights. It is the law. There is no way around it, the portals add 7 inches of width. Now the question is why would you want to??? I understand that there is a group that has lots of money and no sense and would spend money.... but if you wanted to build something to run trails like the rubicon, you sure would not start with the BRaptor. The BRaptor is way better at running the desert at high speed. You do not want the portals for that. It has more than enough clearance, you want to maximize articulation and keep your COG as low as possible. It is the slower trail running and rock crawling that needs the clearance and the regear.

Quinn is a little different. He does not want to sell something just because someone will buy it. He wants to make the best possible vehicle available. Portals on a BRaptor is ridiculous. It is a waste and actually degrades what it is good at.

You are absolutely right.... That is why there is the long arm suspension (ie. the BRaptor)... It is for articulation. Portals do not improve articulation. It is all about what type of off road wheeling do you do.

and actually the 1.22 regear... you have to go to a 42 inch tire to get back to the stock gearing.... anything smaller gets you a lower gear ratio (if you are starting with the SAS 35).

If the goal is to run 40s, longer a-arm will most be better for gaining full steering vs portals(done with offset).
If the goal is 40s, you're better off with Bud Ice, that Olde English or Steel Reserve is deadly.

C'mon, portals are for clearance both in wheel and axle height. Overlanders and desert racers need not apply. You'd think they'd self-select, but there's always one or two that gotta point that out on these threads. Can't we rock crawlers have nice things too?? lol

I wonder if I could put the portals with my 35s for now, and add the Dana 60 and bigger tires later when the tread wears more. Eh, who am I kidding, I don't have $20k right now, and there's already a line. 🤣
just gives you more time to save up the pennies...

@Bored has those Huntington rims with the spacers though, so they won't necessarily stick out that far (he's working on some new ones with better offset). Ain't nothin' wrong with moving slow, can't wait to see what you get going though.
if i understand from the other thread properly, the issue with the huntingdon rims is due to clearance between the bead locks on the inside of the wheel and the caliper with the current solution being a wheel spacer.

other wheels don't have this interference issue.
