Street cred for the flying Bronco but note that per Ford the rack shaft needs to be held in place whilst removing or installing the tie rod to prevent damage and there is a torque spec for the tie rod for both ends (and the jam nut)...I used a crescent wrench to hold the shaft and crow foot wrenches at a 90 degree angle to torque the tie rod at both ends. Additionally you can buy the proper Oetiker clamps for about 60 cents each (McMaster Carr) and they are much better fitting than a hose clamp.

Do you know what size crows foot wrench? And do you have a video to show this procedure?

I had to use a big crescent to get my 2.0 tie rod off (and held the rack shaft with a medium crescent) but for the 3.0 tie rod I replaced it with the crow foot is a 44.

The 2.0/1.0 tie rod takes a smaller wrench but because I didn't care about the torque (because I was just removing it) I didn't need a wrench for that. If you buy the 3.0 tie rods, they do not come with jam nuts...I bought passivated zinc (the gold color) nuts that take a 24 mm crow foot:

What is any easy way to get the full shop manual? Any one have a good link? I saw one on a DVD somewhere. Don’t mind paying for it, just don’t want to go to some strange server where someone downloaded it.

I was about to grab the BB Bushing because I am running the Icon tie rods wheel pretty hard and don't want to blow up my rack, but waiting for you all to report back on the RC version first because, well, I like saving some money to spend on other Bronco parts, and if I can save $300 I would love that.

It would be great if someone who owns the BB bushing could compare it side by side instead of claiming the RC is a comparable solution without inspecting both. I am sure BB will do that at some point, but that would not be very objective.

Based on images, the BB version looks like higher quality material based on color and appearance, the lobe portion also looks smaller, but I'm no materials expert, and the RC may be every bit as good, but that's my first impression.

Also, someone mentioned that these might be consumables and may need replacing several times as they wear. If that's the case (see my material comment above) and the BB version lasts longer, it's worth spending the extra dough so I don't have to break out the wrenches several times.

On a side note: Not here to change anyone's opinion of Tyler at BB. His perceived reputation proceed him fair or unfair, but I have wheeled with him several times in Johnson Valley and Sand Hollow, and he is a super nice guy, and I think his heart is in the right place (even if many think it's directly attached to his wallet). I do agree his prices are high on the bushings, like many here, but that guy and his wife have poured every dollar and their lives into BB and would help anyone on the trail in need, as I've seen him do several times with busted tie rods, axels, etc.

That being said, I love that he's out there crushing his Bronco and putting it into these compromising positions so we all can learn about its weaknesses and limits, even if that's with an extremely small percentage of builds (insert 40-inch tires here).

So I look forward to you all reporting back on the RC bushings once you have them in hand and how the installs go etc. Thanks!

I'd love to hear if you ended up picking up these bushings and your thoughts. I purchased the Icon Tie Rods as well just haven't installed them yet because I ordered the RC Bushings. Hopefully I made the right decision.

I went with the BroncBuster bushings but pretty sure the RC are about the same. I have wheeled with Tyler several times and wanted to support him which is why I choose the BB bushings.

I picked up/installed the RC bushings prior to installing my Icon tie rods. The fit was great, really couldn't see any difference from the BB bushings.

The problem with these videos on YouTube you never know how much is marketing hype vs the real world everyday Bronco owner. I would say most Bronco folks are not going to stick wheel spaces, 40s, body lifts on their rigs then go beat the CACA out of them on the Rocks in Utah. The builds that BB has produced do not ring out as build that are meant to last - they are meant to sell a product. I see folks on here with 37s having rack issues, but I am not confident it couldn't have been avoided with better suspension choices.

I get that Bronco plat form as a trial rig are in it infancy, people are testing the limits, but be smart about it. This means not skimping of lifts and other components needed to make your rig trail worthy. I cringe whenever i hear "body lift" for trail rigs...maybe that's just coming form straight axle rigs.

With that said, I am going to install RC bushings as a preventative measure. Does it gurantee no breakage, no but I always say "Break it, upgrade it!".

Installed the RC bushings and JKS sleeves along with a Readylift leveling kit the other night. The bushings seemed like good quality. I used a very large socket to tap them in.

Is this the 1.25” leveling kit?
