Just to give everyone a heads up that Pre Collision Assist/Automatic Emergency Braking AEB doesn't work that great (or at all). I'm very disappointed it didn't work and had a false sense of security that it would help. My daughter recently plowed into the back of a Wrangler that stopped abruptly in front of her. No alert, braking, nothing. Confirmed the features were all on and sensitivity was set to high, which was one of the first things I did when we got the vehicle.

No one is coming to save you. Never trust the tech with your safety.

You are responsible for your own. I really worry that people trust this crap too much. Call me a technophobe but I don't ever want to be a beta tester on these systems.

I hope your child is okay. Good life lesson, make it sink in for her.

Mine has alerted a few times.
Did not auto-brake

While picking up my wife from the airport a little while ago,
Heard on the radio that a self driving vehicle went through two barricades and into wet cement 😆

Sorry to hear about your kid, hope she's alright.

My biggest fear with these systems has always been what happens if it spazzes out or detects a nearby car that's not actually in your way but it hits the brakes anyway as your trying to pass through a busy avenue... And now you're stuck in the middle of oncoming traffic right in front of that car you were trying to beat.

There's just so much that could go wrong, not to mention letting ones self or your kids become reliant on the false sense of security afforded by this tech.

Personally I would delete this feature /option completely if I could.

First, hope your daughter is ok. Hope your Bronco can be fixed.

Mine auto brakes very reliably when using adaptive cruise. In non cruise situations it alerts and brakes in about 80% of the situations where I think it should. Sometimes it brakes when I don’t think it’s warranted. But all told I love the tech. It’s saved my bacon more than once. Not anywhere near perfect but IMHO it keeps me much safer than if I didn’t have it. Won’t buy a car without it.

99% of rear end accidents are currently caused by people playing with their phones while drivng.

Sorry to hear your daughter was in an accident 😔

My auto-brake system has never given me a warning, yet. I'm not sure I've been in a situation where it would. I feel like I have been, and have questioned its reliability myself. In my CX-5, that system was very sensitive and hit my brakes at times I didn't think it should have. A KIA I had for a bit was similar. The Integra I had just before the Bronco would detect my garage door about 7 feet away. Nothing in the Bronco. I was starting to think it was because I have a 7mt.

Hopefully your daughter realizes the importance of not relying on electronics to perform the duties on being a licensed driver. We all make mistakes. Hopefully everyone is ok.

……?:unsure:?? Nope, not buying this. :cautious:

First, let’s place blame where it should be, your daughter’s driving. Any time you slam into the back of another vehicle, means you either were not paying attention (highly likely), or following too closely behind the vehicle ahead. All other talk is just making excuses.

Pre-Collision ”warning” systems are just that and if you take the time to actually read the disclaimers from the lawyers, they’re full of caveats primarily, that the system won’t help you avoid a collision, that’s your responsibility, not the bots in the car. I’ve never seen those systems work at all in any make in speeds higher than that you’d get in a parking lot situation, which is exactly what they‘re useful for, or hitting part of the house when pulling out of a garage.

Thinking this tech will somehow save someone who, most likely in this case was playing with a cell phone, but would never admit it, is where the problem lies.

Pay the deductible and hope that Jeep driver wasn’t hurt and doesn’t sue you.

Ok, bye! 🙄

yep.....of course in today's world nobody gets held responsible for their actions. First thing to do is check her phone and see if there was texting, tik-toking, selfie taking or other misc. stuff.
