I've been considering replacing the factory Lux charger with one of these aftermarket ones (Mabett, StickerFab) and wondering if anyone has done the same and seen an improvement in performance.

It seems like a pretty straightforward process but don't want to start pulling interior trim if there isn't going to be a noticeable improvement.

My '23 Manual, BL, LUX does not heat up my iPhone 14 Pro. Everything works as it should. YMMV.

Cheers,

Ive got a 23 OBX and the wireless charger heats my iphone a bunch AND charges super slow. We just plug into cable instead. Such a bummer.

I just bit the bullet and ordered the IAG version...$99 and found a $10 Discount Code. What's interesting is their Install Video on YT seems far more complicated (remove shift trim and GOAT trim) than the other solutions but don't see the point in those steps. Just another project in my long list of modifications that I've done.

Just thinking about this, but with the heat building up so much when wireless charging maybe the answer is to put something thin, 1/8", under that holds up the phone in a few points, but still allows for charging? This way the heat that is generated has a place to go. So my temp solution is very low tech. I literally snapped a popsicle stick in half and spaced it on the pad so as to provide a small air gap between the phone and the mat. I tested it and it does still fast charge and it does still get warm, but not as much. I drove for 35 mins and my phone fully charged it's last 10% w/ little generation of heat. Unbeliveably, a 1 cent popsicle stick semi-addressed the issue. Time to 3D print a cleaner and more permanent solution. The real solution needs to be a cooling option so phones don't get so hot to begin with. Summer temps will be the real test. Still love my Bronco, but for a vehicle this pricey, I would expect these issues to have been worked out by Ford.

IPhone gets “quite warm”. Not hot. Charge rate is pretty slow.

I use it without problems

My 22 behaves the same. It charges very slow. Though it is able to hold the charge while using wireless projection.

My Pixel 7 Pro charges fine. Slightly warm.

My work phone iPhone 14 Pro have issues charging. It is smaller, a slight misalignment takes it out of the charge. Also, it feel warmer compare to my android.

What annoy me is iPhone gets the Full screen Carplay, which I used the most. Yet charging is problematic.
Where as the Android only gets "cool-walk" split screen, which is buggy and useless. Yet it charges fine. Can't win...

I put a magsafe USB-C charger on top of the factory charger... just double-sided taped it down. It charges faster than the factory one and my phone doesn't melt. Just my $.02
Link plz

I have a '23 Badlands and the wireless charger is crap. It only heats up my Pixel 7 Pro and if anything loses charge when its on the pad. WTH is up with that? I cant even use mine.

Do you just run a wire to the USB port? Would be nice if someone made a MagSafe solution that installed into the factory spot for a cleaner look.

Yes. The cord sits right next to the charger and plugs into one of the USB ports there.

i installed the 15w wireless charger from 21 Offroad and it works great. i run wireless android auto and have a case on my pixel 7 pro... long road trips, when i grab my phone, it's at 100%. haven't had it get all that hot yet, definitely warm a few times when it had to charge up.
