Will just replacing front dash speakers really make a difference?

I know the base sound system has been discussed many times before but what I cannot determine is will replacing only the front 2 dash speakers be worth the trouble. Every discussion includes subs and amps etc, but all I can do myself is perhaps replace the dash speakers with a better quality speaker. Is this worth it or just wasting my time if that’s all I can do. Will the sound be noticably better or not. Thanks

Replacing them with a quality speaker such as Focal, Hertz, Audison etc will definitely affect the sound quality and with a higher efficiency will make it louder. The real problem though is the soundstage and lack of bass. Replacing just the dash speakers will not fix that!

Will it make the speakers louder, yes. Better sounding overall, no. The system stock gets plenty loud but lacks virtually everything else. It’s definitely worth upgrading the entire system. Had mine completely replaced after 1 week of having the bronco.

I just replaced the front top and rear speakers with kickers and I can tell a big difference. Well worth the effort and price. The bronco could use some bass but if you are just looking for an improvement, replacing the speakers with good quality ones will work.

Absolutely. I used the Infinity REF 4” REF4032CFX with the plug and play harness from Ebay that includes the 600hz bass blocker. I have also done the sub and added the 6.75 Mabett rear pods with Hertz X-170 speakers. I'm in around $500 and it's a massive improvement.

But I did it in steps and the 4" in the dash was first, quite a bit better.... For about $70.

Super easy, plug and play in 10 minutes...

My setup is stock fronts, rear pods (killmat + poly fill) with 4" infinity speaker, and factory sub (killmat around the box, poly fill inside box, killmat and poly fill in the body cavity).

I do have a 2023 with the sub delete, so once I obtained a factory sub, it was simply turning the sub on, turning the EQ off and setting the rear to "speaker". I am very very pleased with how the stereo sounds now.

I may replace the front dash speakers, but I actually think they balance quite well after all I've done.

Yes. And you should keep going. The experience with the top down after you upgrade speakers and amps will be so much better. No Regrets splurging here as the stock system is truly terrible.

If you're only going to do two speakers, so the kick panels instead. They're still incredibly easy to replace and will make a way bigger difference in sound.

Tell me more about the sub. I’ve got a 23 as well.

Absolutely. Just did my sound system last weekend. Started with Kicker KS's up front - made for a world of difference. Lyrics and percussion instruments actually sounded clear for once.

Then the mod bug bit. So I unlocked the rear EQ limitation via forscan, threw a second pair of kicker KS's in the rear pods and added a powered pioneer mini sub under the driver's seat to finally get some bass in the sound stage. A nice OEM+ type of setup.

Highly recommend swapping the 4 inch speakers, as that in itself made a massive improvement in clarity.

Add the Ford Fusion amp and an aftermarket subwoofer such as the Kicker. Will cost about $200 shipped. Then you'll need to access with Forscan to adjust settings.

I'll be installing mine in the next few days.
I'll also be installing 2 pairs of the 4" Infinities, in dash and rollbar. At $45/pair they're a great deal. They do need plug adapters ($10/pr) and a Bass blocker ($10) for the dash speakers, so $125 for the setup.
I was considering larger 6.5" speakers and Mabett pods for the rollbar, but went with the lower $$ option for now.

The more popular opinion on the board is the kick panel speakers are decent, and upgrading the dash speakers gives more of an improvement (?)... that's somewhat of a question, based on what I've read, not what I've done.

100%... That's a great, yet economical stock upgrade path.

And to confirm, the kick panels are buried, so the additional mid and high freq produced is lost in the foot wells... If I was going to replace those, it would be with a component woofer to enhance bass. But now you're needing an amp to drive them decently.

OP : do what he did. Just replacing your dash speakers will help but the problem in the dash speakers aside from low quality is that the 4” speakers get the full range signal that any 4” speaker cannot handle. You must put in the bass blockers if you want a decent improvement. I would even say just putting bass blockers would be better than replacing the speakers without bass blockers
