CA: how long until your plates arrived?

my paper license plates expire at the end of the month. How long did it take for you to get your metal ones? I’m in California/Los Angeles.

Update: plates we shipped a while ago via ups and were ‘delivered’ but never showed up. I signed up for AAA and got replacements, they waived the replacement fee.

Yep about a couple weeks for me too in LA. I ordered the black and yellow plates (non-personalized) and also got it within a month or so.

I got mine within 3 weeks and you should have received your plates. Call the F&I Dept at your dealership and start the inquiry

I live in Iowa. Bought the Bronco in Georgia. I’m coming up on 2 months and still no plates. The dealer sucks, is non responsive and Ford doesn’t care either. I’ve lost count on the number of phone calls and emails to the respective parties. Only Iowa has been helpful.

I live in SF Bay Area. It took DMV 2 months to send my first plates. The very same day I received them, I ordered black personalized plates - it was December of 2022. They new plates were assigned to my Bronco in May, but I still haven't received them. Over this period, I've made several phone calls to DMV, and every time I contacted them, I was told that I have to wait because this process may take up to 12 months even though their website says it's 8-12 weeks.

My white plates came about 2-3 weeks after I took deliver. I immediately ordered black plates and they came about 2-3 weeks later. This is Bay Area info.

If your plates are personalized, it sometimes takes longer.

I got the ugly white Calif plate in 4 days but I think the dealership has someone that goes to DMV and takes care of the paperwork and such so they most likely picked them up then and mailed them to me (the return address on the envelope with the plates was the dealership)
Still wating on the black and yellow legacy plates, almost 3 weeks.
The only thing that Calif DMV does fast is take your money

You should get your normal plates within a couple months. I ordered legacy plates the second I got the registration...took California 180+ days to get me my personalized plates.

Ordered then mid Dec 2022, got them just over a month ago

It took about 2 mos to get the first set and about 6 mos to get the black and yellow vanity plates

California 1-2 months for plates, 90+ Days for a pink slip and my smog didn't clear digital for 60 days.

Floyd County Iowa, on the spot for anything, might get stuck in line of 1 wait for an old person to write a check.

About 12 days, I remembered being surprised on how quickly I got them and it being just under two weeks.
