Twice now the collision avoidance system has kicked in and damn near put me into a roll and made my Bronco very unstable. Both times involved an old idiot in a pickup not getting off the road when turning and that lead the Bronco's CA system to force heavy braking while I'm moving to the left to go around. Has anyone else experienced this?

I turn that crap off in my Mazda. It’s was responsible for 4 very near misses where it totally misjudged a situation and I about got rear ended each time it slammed on my brakes. I am sure it’s the same in a bronco. I believe it is a liability and does not belong in a vehicle. People need to pay attention to the road and not the phone or iPad stuck in their dash.

Yeah collision avoidance system in any car aren't really smart enough to know that the person will have completed their turn by the time you get to where they are so therefore you wont hit them. You either have to account for this in your own driving (e.g. shift lanes) or turn off/turn down the system.

I've had it beep at me in the exact same situation but it didn't hit the brakes. I've also had it beep at me with a clear road ahead while driving into the sun.

I have found its braking to be a bit excessive. I had a Taurus with the assistance and it felt appropriate. In the Bronco it brakes harder and I am more worried someone behind me is going to slam into me. I haven’t turned during the event so I am not sure the feeling you have. I do feel it brakes pretty hard when it activates.

I've had two warnings for a similar situation, but no brake engagements. You must be really close to someone to get brake engagements.

It also takes into account for throttle position. Must be in the pedal to witness the full effect of fords form of auto suicide.

But we need all these safety features for the morons. Which seems to be around 93% of the population.

I'm ready for the hate but that maneuver is illegal if it takes you over the double yellow line. Legally you are supposed to slow down and allow the person in front of you to clear the roadway. The engineers can't program it any other way. Try driving less aggressively?

So the OP is drive in the direction of another vehicle, in close proximity, and on the throttle...
