Fabricated own rock sliders

I looked and looked for a better solution to the stock sliders/steps on our Badlands. I couldn’t find anything I liked. I don’t need real sliders since this isn’t my Rock Crawler it’s our grocery getter. So we made/modified a set and I’m very happy and thought I’d share. We copied what I have on my crawler. Works great as a small step and looks clean, I had them Line-X’d for salt protection. We drive 30 miles on gravel/snowy roads whenever we go to town, so it’s all about protection.

I like the look but details on what it is? Welded a universal kit to the stock rails or bolt on under them?

Mine won't go off road much either but I bought something wider for the kids to step up onto. Yours looks like it won't provide much foot coverage?

No steps on BD or BL. Slider effectiveness is dependent on perspective/intent. Seemed to work pretty damn well on the raptor video I watched yesterday...

BTW looks like they just bend up some tube and welded it to the OEM rock sliders. Kinda like what @Tricky Dick did with his.

I love those but they aren't aluminum and they don't fit with the rock rails. I REALLY like the look of the factory rock rails.

BTW looks like they just bend up some tube and welded it to the OEM rock sliders. Kinda like what @Tricky Dick did with his.

I will caution, try not to land hard on the outer rail. There is a fair amount of flex.

Is there a way to reinforce stock rock rails without welding? I just ordered the AR Magnum steps... they won't be the weaker link. But I'm a big boy even if it's purpose is for my fam.

The rails are pretty tough, the weak link is the body mounts. I'm not sure you can do much about that except tie into more body structure.

They are okay but we wanted a step so we didn’t step on the door sill with dirt and gravel in our shoes, even though I protected that also

The rails are pretty tough, the weak link is the body mounts. I'm not sure you can do much about that except tie into more body structure.

The body mounts are actually pretty impressive. Like I said I’m not going to hammer it on the rocks. I have other toys for that
