USB drive file format for Audio

Title pretty much says it all. I have a Samsung micro usb loaded with backing tracks. Unfortunately, the drive isn’t recognized when I plug it in to the port under the climate control on my outer banks.

anyone know if it needs to be FAT32 or will NTFS work? TIA

No way that NTFS would be recognized, although I don't personally have my Bronco yet to test. Safest bet is FAT32 with 44k/16bit MP3s. Most commonly vehicles that have multiple USB ports really only have a single port that is both power and data. The rest are simply power. Find the USB port that states it is for data/Android Auto/Carplay. In our Honda Odyssey you cannot play music via USB and have wired AAuto at the same time

I have a 256GB USB drive in mine formatted with FAT32.

FAT32 I know for a fact works. exFAT may also work... I vaguely recall reading some documentation saying that exFAT works on newer vehicles. But admittedly I haven't tried it since my older vehicles only support FAT32.

I think the OS is MS based....hell, I'm running a 2TB USB HDD with wma pro audio files. No prob.
It's probably the disk format.

Not any more. Microsoft made Sync 1 & 2. Now it's made by Blackberry.
Supposedly they'll switch to Android for Sync 5.

Ahhh...cool. I find WMA offers good compatibility and lossless quality.

I used a straight up WAV file for the test tracks for the kicker key amp.

Which worked fine, till a flight of blackhawk helicopters decided to fly over me during the test. I 'aborted' the auto adjust by turning off the vehicle...
It corrupted my USB stick. After that plugging it in resulted in a 'device not compatible' message until I reformatted it.

I'm using the stubby 256 Samsung drive too, formated exFAT, and it works fine in my '21.

It takes a few moments to sync up after starting up, but the delay isn't too bad.

Thanks. I'll have to double check what format my drive is. I am coming over from a 2019 Camaro 2SS and used to its infotainment system, which I thought was good. SYNC is even better and I'm still learning all the things it can do.

I miss having a 6.2L V8 but the 2.3 in the Bronco is surprisingly quicker than I expected it would be -- at least in sport mode. I was going to limit myself to the 2.7L but I'm glad I didn't, as I can't tell a difference. Although I miss the beautiful rumble of that idling 6.2L, I'm really happy that I no longer have to open my driver door and lean out of the car to fit the zaxby's drive through order in.

My USB drive is formatted FAT32, and all the music on it is in FLAC, no issues with playback. The display pulls up the album covers and such.

I assume that by that statement your 256gb drive is working on your bronco?

I know my 16gb and 32gb drives work just fine, and for various reasons I currently switch between about 4 of them, would love to use just one big one.

I use a 256 thumb drive and it works well with my 2022.

Worked just fine. Upgraded to a 1TB and it works as well.
