Getrag transmissions in first year vehicles are not Fords strong suit.
My 2011 Mustang GT had a bad getrag trans that took 4 months to replace. Mainshaft bearings bad, sounded like it had a supercharger. I started documenting the issue with dealer at 8k miles and the trans was replaced at 12k miles. 50k miles on it now and I have no complaints. Although I did replace the clutch, shifter, added stainless clutch line and trans mount bushing.
For what it’s worth, my Badlands has a 2.7 auto….

I have the same issue on my Badlands with a manual transmission. I noticed a slight rattling noise at low speeds within days of driving it off the lot but waited until 3000 miles were on it before bringing it back to the dealer on March 15th. It took them a week to diagnose the problem and then the worst news ever: they “don’t recommend driving it as there are metal shavings in the transmission fluid and we probably won’t get the replacement transmission until late April”. Today is April 26th and I’ve been without the vehicle for almost a month and a half and they have no update as to when the new transmission will arrive AND they’ve refused to give me a loaner vehicle. Seriously WTH?!? I don’t understand how FORD can continue to ship new Broncos when the ones on the road can’t even be fixed AND they don’t give more accurate delivery timeline info to their dealers!!?!? After enduring a year and a half wait time for my Bronco and only being able to drive it with a soft top during a brutal Minnesota winter, if I miss out on driving my Bronco this spring/summer, I’m going to lose my mind.

OK, I'll answer your question.
I'd contact a transmission shop for a complete fluid replacement and a magnetic drain plug. Drive it easy while you wait for a replacement. Really not much else to do at this point, it sucks.

When do you hear this sound is it while you are in gear or idleing or both?

I’ve had my Bronco about a month and love it…so far. There does seem to be a gremlin that causes the headlights to stay on (and no, I’m not hitting the switch with my knee).

Having become a firm believer and purchaser of Toyota products, which are very reliable, it blows my mind to see the number of mechanical failures posted on this board. I’m hoping it’s like “Yelp” or other reviews which are skewed with negative feedback.

I understand that it’s a new vehicle, but issues like engine & transmission failures should be exceedingly rare.

im having the same exact issue in my 22 BL 2.3 MT! Been to 2 dealerships to diagnose so far and all they can say is “yeah it’s making a noise.” They want me to leave it for “2-6 weeks” to diagnose! It’s insanity! It’s at the shop now, and the guy said he needs to wait to drive a few others to see if this is normal for them! Complete ignorance, or incompetence, not to mention terrible customer service!

Mine is definitely making noise. It’s a third vehicle for me, so I’ll drive it until it breaks and they can replace the entire trans. With the number of miles I do in a year they should have the issue sorted out by the time I have a problem.

1900 miles in, so far no noise for me. Warm weather down here in Socal, truck hasn't seen much below 50*F. Cold weather / cold temp lubrication issue, perhaps?

Geez that sucks. I worry in the back of my mind that something is going to happen to mine and it will be idle for a long, log time due to parts constraints.

I had Jeep new Wrangler in 2005 that had a bad manual tranny. It clunked so bad and had so much slop in it. It took going to 3 dealers before one acknowledged without a doubt the tranny was bad. It happens once in a while.

These manual transmission stories have me worried. My build starts in June, my dealer is 5 hours away. I'd hate for the transmission to take a crap on the way home.

I understand the failures are small compared to the masses that have manuals, but that's the kind of luck I have.

I got my bronco home. Shocker, still making the noise. Time will tell how long it will be before the replacement arrives. I don't feel so bad any more as another fellow bronco owner was dropping off their bronco after a catastrophic failure. He had to have it towed in! Warning lights blaring from the dash and truck wouldn't restart! What a mess!!!

If we could go back to just 2.7s blowing up that would be great.

I’m hoping it’s like “Yelp” or other reviews which are skewed with negative feedback.
I do think most of us without issues aren't going around making threads about how great we have it.

Drive it like you stole it to Jamie's transmission in Snohomish for a tranny expert's opinion, see if it's fixable, take that documentation back to FOK. Careful on Hwy 9, keep it no more than 50 MPH on the stretch btwn Maltby Rd and 180th due to WSP's.
