Hey Guys,

Just discovered my Bronco 4Dr leaking gas while parked on my steep driveway. Anyone notice this anywhere? It's leaking from my rear drivers side bumper, below the gas tank. Took it to dealer service and they couldn't find the reason. It does have a full tank and has been sitting for at least a week. No evidence inside the gas cap of anything spilling over or wet.

Thanks,
Ash

Going to throw a SWAG... very full tank + steep incline for long period = gas going into the evap system and leaking out.

Your bronco is pissed it’s been sitting for a week and trying to get your attention.

was there a large temperature change after filling the tank and the time you noticed the 'leak'?

might have been thermal expansion flooding the evaporator chamber and exiting the overflow.

https://www.onsitepoweradvisor.com/2012/12/03/thermal-expansion/

the general advise is not to fill past the first click heard on the nozzle.

The tank is not near the bumper so it has to be filler related. Any chance someone tried to siphon some of it?

Add more fuel as it sits and look for the source.

Yes actually the temperatures in SoCal have gotten into the 80's with cold mornings, that could be it. A shame the service advisor wouldn't be aware of this....I'll have to inquire about this.

Thanks guys!

I read this multiple times before I realized what you were saying 😂 the first few times I’m thinking, “mornings in the 80’s are cold?!?”

they could try, but theyd find theres a baffle in there that would prevent it.

Do you "top off" when you fill up?

Hi Ashley! Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into this concern with your Bronco on my end.
