.... Ford also contacted me and told me they were moving one of my customers with two reservations to the front of the line....

..... priority orders. We picked those at will.....

Hope this....makes you feel warm and fuzzy

There's the truth.....

The truth is out there, you just have to look. As far as those not liking the thread, you can't catch a fish if you don't throw out the line.

I hate that they are called "influencers." Who do the influence? And how? I go the Youtube to learn stuff, like how to change a radiator or check the IP configuration from command prompt. I don't watch YouTube to have some random dude in a flannel shirt tell me what to buy.

That having been said, I have a YouTube channel. Can I be an influencer?
There may not be some dude in a flannel shirt influencing what you to buy... but it certainly sounds like maybe there's a dude in a Dickies shirt influencing your behavior on how to change your radiator.

What truth? Lol

Companies have used influencers for as long as there have been influencers. I don't understand why people are surprised by something like this. Search youtube for "unboxing" videos, search for product reviews, and there is a strong chance they got a product before the consumers, at a discount, for free, or for limited free use. Hell, movie reviewers get to see movies before all of us.

This is very standard stuff.
This.

Just because it's YouTube, and all the people are younger than you now, doesn't mean that "influencers" are new or bad... it just means you're old.

Forgive me, I could be missing something, but are we 4 pages in with zero evidence (other than the fact they have a build date) the unnamed promoter even got a priority code?

This ain't a witch hunt. Everyone knows it is going on, just wanted to get to the bottom of it for posterity's sake.

I get all of this. I am absolutely no stranger to manipulation through advertising. The issue is how many of these influencers have any real skill in the thing they influence? Earnhart repping Goodwrench on his car is one thing--he was an expert in his chosen field and his support came with knowledge and experience. But a random dude unboxing a shoe? Some random guy in a Jeep claiming to be an overland expert? The ubiquitous nature of the internet has made everyone "experts." That's my only point. Very little has to be done for an influencer to earn the title.

But that doesn't change that it doesn't matter if one or more got an early shot at a Bronco. As has been said above, it happens with music, movies and products of all kinds. It doesn't bother me.

Plus, I have my VIN... (threw that in there in jest...don't slaughter me).

I don't like it and I stop doing business with some companies over it. All they care about is dollars. They're guessing that obnoxious, attention-world's oldest professionerz with a GoPro will equal a sustained revenue stream from the Bronco. This is the age of the 15 minutes of fame the prophet Warhol spoke of so long ago. So, investing in influencers is more like speculating on stocks than older advertising methods.

I just won't watch their channels after I get my Bronco. It's an outdoor vehicle... go outdoors with it.

Sorry, but you are just wrong. There is an entire business, with metrics, views, subscribers, click-through rates etc etc. These aren't random people at all, especially when we are talking about a Ford Bronco.

Setup your own channel, let me know when you get 30 subscribers, let alone 1,000, 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000+. It is the opposite of random or easy.

Ford has a lot more orders for 2021 than they can build. Making reservation holders wait (and the length of time is irrelevant, it is the principle) longer so an 'influencer' can get one sooner...

Just trying to wrap my head around the logic in this; If the 'influencer' actually generates more sales than a guy having one in his driveway sooner, Ford still cannot fill them this year, so why would it matter if those units were given to the youtube crowd six months or a year from now?

If the influencers don't do much of anything (I am in the camp of believing they are not generating very many extra sales, but the price is right for Ford, nothing.), then why give them the units first? I guess Ford believes free advertising trumps the time value of every single reservation holder they displace, all the way down the line. Just add it in to the general disrespect Ford has for the consumer, as long as their customers (dealers) are happy. I have accepted that Ford will continue to screw over the early reservation holders to placate the every whim of their dealers. It is comical to me at this point and it is only going to get more sideways as time goes on. Forget the popcorn, I am getting out the caramel corn.

Was anyone waiting for confirmation that priority orders were being given out preferentially? It’s, you know, the whole reason they exist.

Ford is less concerned about the sales they have already taken, it's about future sales and keeping them going.

How many sales are enough sales? What is wrong with Ford not only locking down conversions, new orders, but also keeping future or prospective Jeep owners from choosing Jeep over Bronco?

Influencers like Youtubers and instagrammers are getting them first, some are getting it for free and a bag of cash from ford owned marketing company for multi episode-series videos. yes they signed NDA so all of them will release video at the same time.
