I wonder if an SFA would improve the tow rating.

I'm being serious! It seems like it would sign the front end a bit and that would provide a more stable platform out back for capacity.
SFA has nothing to do with tow rating, its the suspension spring selection.

Ranger, up to 7,500 lbs.

Jeep 3,500 lbs.

No? I would expect a bit more lateral resistance to help somewhat. Maybe not 1-2k worth but at least maybe a couple hundred pounds.

I think not. Leaf springs or heavier springs in the rear would help. The Bronco is designed for best offroad performance, which means soft compliant springs, which is counter to what you want for towing.

What about boxing the rear frame (if it isn't already)? Could that help?

The Bronco frame is already boxed.

You need a side frame rail trailer hitch and heavier duty springs.

Then, serious answer, buy a one to two million dollar liability policy in case you get sued after an accident for exceeding the manufactures tow rating, the policies are only $300-$400 per year from your insurance company.

That style hitch is the only one I would trust on a DIY anyhow. Try to prevent twisting.

Actually @North7 , I put one of these on my '51 F-1 for the sole purpose of another semi-crossmember right at the end of the frame rails.
