Looks like for a kicker key or some other type of subwoofer/amp system.
This guy hit it on the head, first try! Certainly an amp connection. Given the wire sizes and connectors, this is for a low power 2ch amp and may have been a cheap powered sub with a built-in amp.

Like others have said, probably a sub/amp combo. The phone plug (rj11) connector is for the gain dial. If you look under the hood is there an extra/aftermarket looking power wire connected to the positive battery terminal with a big fuse inline?
