I was reading a review of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and cannot help but wonder why the Bronco cannot get an engine compartment that appears better finished?

To be truthful...I'm an old school analog industrial, mechanical, functional over form kinda guy and quite frankly I like to see inside my engine bay and be able to access/view things quickly. Just my 2-cents

Are you going to pop the hood on your Bronco at the local car show or Cars & Coffee and show off the BOV?

My Bronco came with a super-clean engine cover. It’s even color-matched to the body!

I’m exactly the same honestly. I have had to work on vehicles with fully dressed bays and it is such a pain in the ass

Someone has never dropped an engine cover bolt and had it rest on a skid plate.

I understand your point but don’t subscribe to the same thought process. I’m thinking from a utilitarian point of view I do not want that extra piece of plastic holding in heat, restricting air and generally making the engine compartment just that much more cramped. I think I’m terms of openness in the engine bay as much as possible to allow for maintenance. I also don’t want that plastic piece coming off while on the trail and fragging out something in the engine bay like a line or a belt

Jeez, tough crowd

While I don't need all the cladding, it seems it could have been executed a tad neater.
BUT, as long as my 2.7L doesn't blow up, I'm happy.
motors a built by engineers. They don’t give two shits how these things look as long as they meet the prescribed parameters set forth by ford

I don't think that true of all engineers at all. I think some want their final products to look nice, neat, and squared away.
But hey, whatever, it's all good.

This reminds me of the time when we first opened the hood when we started seeing it in person and these threads started. So I guess engine cover will be a permanently repeated thread forever.
